UGA doing UGA things

They might need to limit all the players to only drive minivans.

Two players with the University of Georgia football team were arrested Wednesday night after they were caught allegedly driving recklessly on an Athens roadway.

Linebacker Darren Ikinnagbon and linebacker Christopher Cole were booked into the county jail on charges of speeding and reckless driving. Ikinnagbon was additionally charged with following another vehicle too closely.

They were both soon released upon posting minimal cash bail.

The incident report was not immediately available and. neither was official comment from the police department
I said this probably 2 or 3 arrests ago, but how is this still a thing? This has become a running joke at UGA and one the instances actually ended up with people dying - members of the team no less.

The fact that Kirby - or the AD, President, etc - hasn't come in and said that anyone that gets a ticket and/or is arrested for reckless driving is - at the very minimum - suspended for X games if not suspended for the season or kicked off the team. They should also have it written into all of their NIL agreements that they will lose money if this happens.

It's only so long before someone else dies and the school is sued for allowing it to keep happening.

I don't know where you are pulling the lyrics from, and I'm sure ol' Waylon drawls his words, but it is NOT:

"a good old boys"

or

"the good old boys"

It is, and always has been, "TWO good old boys".

And it's also "fightin' the system like a true modern-day Robin Hood" (Hood rhymes with could)

No need the go back and forth. It's not a big deal, but there are lyric sites all over that uses different lyrics. Look up the lyrics on genius.com.

Athens PD not sweeping anything under the rug
People will disagree, but I’m sure Kirby got to the point years ago that he was so sick of dealing with this and has probably spent countless hours lecturing the team on this that he probably wants Athens PD cracking down on this…especially after the Jalen Carter situation and may even tell them to keep a closer eye on his team.

Our high school coaches, one was a captain in our PD was told by our head coach to keep a closer eye on guys and their cars around town. I ended up in the crosshairs of that one time.

And since that post... in 2025 my friend was pulled over by GA state patrol around Columbus for doing 71 in a 65 making the drive to our annual trip.

Going in June this year. We shall see.

Wow.
I'm not into breaking the law and I drive slow on most occasions, but the 65mph is unrealistic at times, especially when you have folks like myself who will speed to get away from a caravan of cars and especially 18 wheelers.

I am all for clowning our rivals, but this feels a little like throwing stones while living in a glass house considering what happened with Aldarius Hayes a little under a year ago

I would buy that he would potentially do that if the cops were keeping an eye on them by pulling them over and telling them to knock it off or reporting back to Kirby who would then punish them privately, but I have a hard time believing Kirby is telling the police to look out for and arrest his players - particularly when he could just have strict rules telling the players that if you get caught doing this, that you are suspended (for some meaningful amount of games), you are kicked off the team, and/or you lose NIL money.

Edit: I see from the article I found below that some of these kids are being suspended <cough>Colby Young<cough> or kicked off the team, but it is clearly not strict enough if it keeps happening.

What he did was terrible, but as far as we know, that was a one off. This article lists 24 incidents that have happened since 2023!

Yea like someone said above, not at all the same situation.

Any school can have a few vehicle incidents in the span of a few years.

23 incidents is outrageous. That is systemic.

I think the rationale is that the behavior can lead to death and serious fallout for the UGA program…nothing has really worked so it wouldn’t surprise me if Kirby is at his whits end and wants the police to do what they need to do. I’m sure he originally was working with the cops to not have the guys arrested…but clearly that didn’t deter the behavior.

Better to have his player cracked down on for speeding vs someone losing their life or something along those lines.

That CBS Friday night lineup back in the early 80's was pure fire.

The Incredible Hulk
Dukes of Hazzard
Dallas

The best...my brother and I would watch the Hulk and Dukes of Hazzard then have to go to bed at 9pm when Dallas came on. I still have a mint General Lee matchbox car from that era.

Some one should make a running list of arrest under Kirby at Georgia . Example urban myers have harvested two killers so far
