It's Florida Institute of Technology and it's private.

That’s a different school. UCF in Orlando was originally Florida Tech. From 1963-1978 they were Florida Technical University. The school was originally founded to develop engineers and other tech professionals for NASA. The Space Center is less then a half hour drive from the school.
My buddy and I used to joke about how much cooler it would have been if UCF was still Florida Tech. “Central Florida” just sounds like a ****** directional school like “ Central Michigan”.

UCF has 3 problems
1. They recruit very weirdly. They get bougie with offers in-state, they try to recruit OOS but get bullied because their name holds no weight, then ESD comes and they have a bunch of Al Golden-style OOS kids and a handful of in state kids they scraped together at the last second
2. They made two bad hires in a row with a past his prime Malzahn, then tried to recapture the magic and hired an alcoholic Scott Frost. This is similar to FSU with Taggs and Prison Mike.
3. They will NEVER be able to recruit in the top half of the Big 12. A lot of kids would choose Kansas over UCF.
I thought they should have hired Tyson Helton, Willie Simmons, or just said F it and paired Travaris Robinson with an elite OC.
