UCF player publicly calls out their fans

I'm gonna take a different stance here. It was 35-7 with 3:00 left in the 3rd quarter. UCF then proceeded to:

-Throw an interception
-Give up a TD, 10 plays 81 yards 3:00
-Punt after burning 1:38
-Give up a TD 5 plays 55 yards 1:17
-Fumble the ball for a scoop and score
-Punt after burning 1:10
-Give up a FG

Having fans in the stands doesn't mean much when you play like that. When you're up 28 points basically in the 4th nobody thinks you're going to blow a lead like that.
nah I think it is all the same stance. You are correct, no fan expects to lose that game so people dipped. Then the team blows the game and everyone was probably chirping the players. This dude then decided to clap back. Basically you are calling me out for ****** play when yall dont support us because you left early. If they dont blow that game, this never gets tweeted. If it was a close game and a ton of people still left and they lost but fans didnt come after the player, this never gets tweeted.

I just think this happens in a lot of stadiums. I've been to SEC games where people leave at the start of the 4th when their team is up a couple scores against bad teams. It happens at Miami games. If Miami was up 28 points in the 4th quarter against some non-P5 schools people are leaving.

play your heart out for your teammates not a bunch of students you don’t even know
That's what guys do in war - when its hitting the fan, they're not fighting for an ideology or flag, they're fighting to keep each other alive. Do your job for the guy next to you, not the fans.

Oh no sorry you misunderstood, I agree, it happens every where. Not just limited to college either, it is sport wide. Attendance for sporting events across the board is down my point was this was a reaction to fans coming at the player or team and unlikely to be a genuine gripe.

I was at this game with my son and I can tell you people were leaving in the 2nd quarter (mostly students). But the baffling thing to me, was the lack of concern or energy on their sideline.... even up to the last minute of the game. I didn't see players upset or coaches yelling at them. It was like they were all asleep. Mario and our coaches would have been losing it on the sideline.

I went to 1 Dodgers game in my life, in the summer of 2005. The Cubs were visting, and Zambrano was pitching. I don't remember who was pitching for LA, but it was like 1-1 after 6 innings. Then everyone got up and left. I asked the guy I was with, who was from LA, what gives? This is a tight game, and it's moving fast because the pitchers are dealing. And he told me, "They're trying to beat traffic." This was a night game, btw.

A former coworker of mine many years ago told me the ultimate Dodger fan story. His uncle was at game 1 of the '88 World Series. He leaves after the 8th inning because he didnt want to get stuck in the stadium traffic and it looked like the Dodgers were going to lose. He's listening to the game on radio. As he leaves the parking lot, he hears the stadium erupt into cheers, then a few seconds later (radio delay) he hears Vin Scully make this call.

Of course for the rest of this man's life everyone he knew was like...

I've never been on UCF's or USF's campus, but I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of their students (even undergrads) are UF or FSU fans
There are a lot of UCF fans in and around the campus. Other than that, Orlando and its environs are heavy Gator.

There are 7 USF fans. The largest fanbase in the Bay Area is Gator of course, but FSU have a significant contingent in Tampa.

College football games are too long!!! There is so little action in a 3.5-4 hour span, which is not enjoyable for fans that aren't diehard. Then factoring for hot weather, traffic, and expensive concessions, I can't blame anyone for leaving early, especially students.

It might be different now but when I was at UCF, I would wear Miami shirts to classes. Nobody cared. People would wear UF and FSU stuff too. It wasn’t a big deal because at the time there was no comparison between the big 3 and UCF. It was 25 years ago and they had just made the jump from 1-AA to D1. The football team was a novelty that played in the Citrus Bowl. They were fun to watch though. Daunte Culpepper and a wide open offense that could score a ton.

Also almost everyone I knew at UCF got arrested at least once. Orange County sherif would just drive around student apartment complexes looking for anyone drinking and immediately arrest them. My sister made the mistake of stepping outside her apartment into the hallway to smoke a cigarette with a beer in her hand and Seminole police took her to jail.

Typical Orlando at that time...

Grew up in Orlando, still live here, went to UCF in very early 2000's.

Without exaggerating, I would say AT LEAST 9 out of 10 UCF fans I know actively and openly also root for another team. It's almost always UF, but some root for FSU. A fan of UCF who is only a fan of UCF is V E R Y rare.

There's this one guy I've known for a long time who is all in on UCF, huge fan, season tickets, donates, very involved etc... gets mad and flat out denies ever being a UF fan, even though he was. He even went to the Peach Bowl in 04 dressed in UF gear and bought my older brother, a Miami fan, a Peach Bowl shirt with the UM logo on it.

My point? UCF football is currently and will always be irrelevant.

Seems as good a time as any for my first post.

I went to grad school at UF not long after the Tebow era (UM undergrad!). Been to dozens of games at The Swamp, and you'd be surprised at how many students are gone from the student section by halftime. Doesn't matter what time, if it's a win or loss, but they are all there to make their appearance and then on to drink across the street in Midtown. They thought it would get better when the SEC started to allow beer sales in stadiums a while back, but students are not spending $17 for a Budweiser. The funny thing is that UF continues to brag about their attendance every week on social media, and the steel benches on the west side of the stadium cover it up really well.
