Ty Simpson (is not yet in the portal)

Moore going back to Oregon would be so insanely stupid on his part l. He’s a likely top 15 pick right now in what is a very weak class.
Top 3 pick since the NFL overdrafts QBs all the time.

Moore or Mendoza are a lock for #1. Raiders didn't tank to pass on a QB. The Jets desperately need one, so they likely pick one next. Even if the Jets pass or trade out, Arizona is 3rd and imo they are about to say goodbye to Kyler. Brissett is only a bridge. Even if all **** breaks lose, Cleveland is at 6 is there is no way in **** any new HC wants Sanders or Gabriel as his starting QB.

I know he got injured but looked like trash the last month.

Neither of our last two QBs were potentially going in the first round. Zero indication that Simpson is doing anything but proceeding to the NFL.
Sure. My point was we saw the exact situation with Sorsby and TTU. Miami was willing to match that offer and I believe they'd pay the ticket for Simpson too. We'll have to see how things play out, he could very well go to the NFL.

Rookie scale takes a big drop off in the late teens into the 20’s. There’s a reason Sorsby came back. Betting on yourself and playing yourself into 50 million range versus 20’s. Sorsby will make more this year than most of the qb’s who go in the draft . On top of that playing more football and seeing more. This being a weak qb class might make teams avoid reaching , which history should’ve taught them.
These teams reach every year for a qb. JJ McCarthy went 10th

All I’m gonna say is this . A buddy of mine is an agent and is heavily involved in the NIL world. He says this announcement was just a formality and now the negotiations with Mario begin
I could see this. Announcing he is going pro and then coming back is the cleanest break from Bama. If he changes his mind, Bama can say that they already moved on to Russell.

and how has that worked out for them? At some point NFL teams are going to figure this **** out.
They won’t because everyone will think they’re the right coach for their guy like Sean Payton and Bo Nix. Basically everyone that picking him at 12 was a massive reach - looks like Payton was right.

Last year (2025), Jaxon Dart went #25 overall to the NY Giants. His contract was for 4 yrs $17m with another $9m as a signing bonus, and a potential 5th year option since he went first round. So, Dart made $13m his first year as a pro QB.

No NIL/revenue sharing is beating that number if a team tells Simpson's agent (yes, we will take your client in the first round). In order for Simpson to remove himself from the draft, his agent hasn't received any information/promise like that.

Not just that, but the sooner into the league the sooner he can sign a potential second, more lucrative contract.

Simpson is ahead of chambliss and nuss. There is literally no nfl talk with chambliss. Or at least I haven’t seen or heard it. And nuss is terrible
Chambliss wants to return to school but needs a waiver to do so.

If it’s not approved, there’s no other option than NFL. Now if the waiver is approved, then Simpson is top 3 by default given how bad the class is.

But if Chambliss builds on his UGA performance whether they beat us or lose, no one in their right mind is taking Simpson over him imo. What he did against UGA was the single best performance from a college QB this season. And like Cribby said, this guy has played much more ball than Simpson has (albeit different levels). There’s more tape + he showed he can do it against the SEC, and has improved every game this season. Simpson regressed, particularly his last 3-4 games.

With that being said, Simpson would have us right back in contention next season and then some. He’s my #1 “realistic” portal option.
