Two-Sport Athlete Jasen Lopez Recaps Visit To Miami

We lost out on our big fish targets and are circling back to a scrawny local kid without any elite traits but he puts up numbers

Man never seen this one before

I don't know man…For a 5'11ish kid those hops (dunking two handed in a half court) look pretty elite to me and hint at serious athleticism.

It’s all good. Wouldn’t be the first or last time I was dead wrong

His other option was FSU which when was the last time a receiver picked FSU over us that came back to haunt us?

If he was so good then the Oregons and OSUs would be after him but they aren’t and he’s at FSU, a literal graveyard for wide receivers worse than us

We didn’t recruit him hard enough because he wasn’t really an important option. I suppose they’ll tell us it’s because we’ve “reevaluated” but more likely the Keys of the world just have vanished

Not meant to be super mopey just seen so many of these WRs pass through over the years

It seemed like we were recruiting him plenty hard enough and that we just weren't real keen on him playing both sports.

Doesn’t really make any sense if you really want a prospect unless we just think FSU is smarter than we are

With expanded rosters I’d still prefer guys like him and Russell end up here rather than going elsewhere though

Me too in a class that will probably have between 28 and 32 hs kids I don't think only 2 should be from Sofla

We've hit our targets pretty well at WR. Didn't get Keys but Wingo, Spafford and Paris are all big recruits.

Who knows how any of these guys will turn out, but Lopez is not scrawny. Strong build. I'd also argue that he's the best overall athlete in South Florida given that he's a true prospect in both sports.

I'd put him in the Toney and Restrepo family. Every time he's in a competitive setting, he wins.

WR is good imo

Wingo and Spafford much better prospects than Lopez. Spaffords speed is elite and I was way on the Wingo bandwagon from Day 1

Just don’t see it with Lopez. But like I said elsewhere I’d rather we get these guys and hope it works out than him or guys like Russell ending up at FSU

I’m greedy like that

So what’s the hold up D? Are the coaches not pressing hard enough?

So the question is @DMoney …Is Lopez an important target to the staff? Is the two sport thing a hold up for us and not FSU…Does the two sport thing effect our NIL offer to him?

you forgetting we got Milan Parris to commit just a few days ago?. lol

if shannon dawson is stil the oc getting a guy like lopez wouldnt be bad because his offense #1 focal point is the slot wr and jroc can play that also it hurts fsu i almost want to flip him just to play keep away...also i know he has that dade county dawg mindset..where in one on one he thinks hes open every play....i saw it up close n personal last year.

The best athlete in sofla can't go to a better school than fsu?
i mean basketball is a factor which is why nc state almost got him as well..cj is going to cuse..these guys believe they are legitimate bballers and they are on the hs level...cj russel was a athlete/player of the year last year.

Good point. My mind was still stuck on the football side.
