This sucks for everyone. And it proves no matter how clean of a program you try to run, you really can't control if and when some player will go to jail. Like these kids you may not have ever been arrested before and then some BS happens. With that said, bring on JC!!!! We can now throw arrest records out of the window. Just saying... It would seem kind of hypocritical to use the "no prior arrest" card, right?

the return of thug U
we need to make sure we sign that corner J Jackson from UF, the more thugs you have the more success you have

hopefully richt doesnt boot them off the team

I'm no fancy lawyer but shouldn't there be component charges here to which they were resisting....without actually resisting....arrest over?

Exactly my point. Seems like the go to charge if the cop just wants to be a ****. Prolly a UF/FSU fan.

You are correct. And this is why these cases will be thrown out. My guess is UM lawyers are breaking down the BS and these charges will be dropped.

Doesn't look serious, but it all depends on why they were resisting and what they were doing at the time of the events. For those that want to know...

Under Florida Statute 843.02, the crime of Resisting Officer without Violence is committed when a person knowingly and willfuly resists, obstructs, or opposes a law enforcement officer engaged in the execution of legal process, or lawful execution of a legal duty.

The crime of Resisting an Officer without Violence is classified as a First Degree Misdemeanor in Florida.
If convicted of Resisting Officer without Violence, a judge can impose any of the following penalties:
A maximum sentence of one (1) year in jail, and
A minimum sentence of probation or a fine.

You can also be charge with Resisting an Officer without Violence by cursing and or using aggressive language directed at an officer. This gets a lot of people in cuffs. Some people think that they are protected under the 1st Amendment "Freedom of Speech" and they can say anything they want to the police but the 1st Amendment does not cover this language in terms of engaging law enforcement and government officials.

This is great. Richt doesn't take arrests lightly. If you think he isn't going to make an example of the first 2 players arrested on his watch, you don't know Richt. Regardless of whether the charges are BS or not, you got 2 players that were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately, we have a pretty cupcake schedule the first 3 games.

Non-issue.

Likely outcome. Internal discipline, no suspensions. As far as the actual charges: most likely dropped at some point in future.

I'd be surprised if there was an actual game suspension. If I'm wrong, can't see it being more than one game. Just for show.

Nothing to see here; kids wasn't stealing or fighting or anything like that. They may be suspended for the first half of FAMU or something like that or may not participate in the spring game as punishment, but I highly doubt anything ore comes of this.

Not in Florida. The language of the statute is much broader than resisting an actual arrest.

The case will probably be no actioned or they will be offered PTD and have their case nolle prose'd.

You can get arrested for resisting arrest. It happened to two of my friends in college. Usually it's when a cop is trying to bark at you and you pretend you can't hear him. If you just try to walk away to de-escalate the situation, they chase you down, cuff you and charge you with resisting arrest without violence. Unless one of these guys has a bunch of priors, it'll get thrown out. Worst case scenario, community service.

so the cop wanted them to walk to a sidewalk and they didnt so they arrest them? seems like the pigs could've fined them or given them a citation rather than actually booking them. what a joke cops are.
