Two biggest takeaways

Our oline has improved its run blocking and conditioning. Pass pro. Not so much

Uab did give up 6 per on the run vs. Directional flyover too...

King was off on passing. Full stop. It's okay to admit

Uabs dline was good. Full stop. Its okay to admit

Lashley called a ton of runs, not as many rpos, which if I am wrong see above.

WRS are what they are. Same as they were.

Our dbs....blades wasnt horrible. Ivey was. Shocker. We have a coaching and talent problem. It real.

Blake is blake. Overthinker and lacks cbs. Their wrs were running free too often.

Am off the rumph train rn.

Lbs sucked on run once the dline was broken.

Dline defended run pretty well.

Our rbs are great

Kicking. Yes.

Told u f#$&ers cis would be hair on fire midway through third.

Vegas got this dead on.

Not stoked, not mad.

We better score alot vs. UL through the air too...

We don't clean it up, not so sure we can ...

6-5 or 7-4. Standing by it.
I agree with all of your points except the last one. That will depend entirely on the amount of improvement in the next two games.

UAB is a well coached football with a bunch of good athletes. They're going to win most of their games this season. People need to stop acting like we played FAMU or BCC last night.

Go Canes!!!!
I think people can agree that UAB is a pretty decent team but also still be concerned with how we played as we look towards better opponents.

1. We came out slow which has been a trait of this team for a number of years - better teams will take advantage of that.
2. We didn't move away from the run when they stacked the box - better teams will take advantage of that.
3. We didn't get enough pressure on the QB which exposed our weakness at DB - every other team will take advantage of that.

I'm perfectly happy that we beat a pretty good UAB team. But I also see some pretty big gaps in this team that need to be fixed before Louisville and especially before FSU/Clemson.

1. We have a QB.
2. Our backs are much better than our wide receivers.

been said our WR talent is average and 90% of this board came at me talking dumb like we got NFL guys all over the place.

I still think Lashlee will figure it out and we didn’t even use Jordan tonight. Hopefully he is just saving stuff for Louisville and beyond. King will need to keep the ball a lot more in the RPO next week.

as for defense. Get Ivey off the **** field. Kid just isn’t that good.

Ford is whack and doesn’t get any type of push for a kid that size it’s pathetic.

McCloud was terrible. Is he hurt? Somebody has to step up at LB.

Agreed on all of this. DEs need to get in the back field a little more often, but they did their job. Ivey looks like 2019 Ivey which is a bad sign. Some WRs are going to eat on his side of the field this year.
Someone needs to teach hall to keep his feet under him and to stop constantly tackle peoples ankles!

UNC, Louisville and Clemson are going to torch this defense.

Lashlee has to put 35pts a game for us to have a chance to win.

I am much more concerned about the defense than I am the offense. Offense takes time to gel, especially with a new system.

but the defense looked BAD.... zero pressure all night, LB’s are slow, and DB’s made a bad Qb look like Aaron Rodgers.

Agreed.

Lashlee and King will be fine. Remember I have said over and over again, he wants to run first. I know he learned the air raid under Dykes but he is a Malzahn guy. Malzahn is a run first guy. Even with all the uptempo and gimmicky **** he still wants to pound the rock first. Lashlee did just that. We will be a 60-40 run first team and the will allow for explosive plays once teams stack the box. King is legit and would’ve had 200 yards rushing if he really wanted to last night.

Agree with the observations on the surface. More of a sample is needed to make more detailed criticisms.

Really? One game in? A game that was played against all odds and that's what you got out of last night's game? I feel for ya brah. I really do. Life's too short to be beating that dead horse. Last night wasn't perfect. Not even close. But it was a nice win and watching King do his thing was awesome. Sure Manolo probably isn't our ideal head coach right now. But that's what we got to roll with. So let's ride it out until the wheels fall off. I was here before Manny and ill be here when he's gone. I wish him nothing but the best. Let's ride!!!!!

Go Canes !!!!!!!
I will absolutely ride it out... Love the team but I see the same problems...same strange coaching decisions... Say what u want but letting our rbs get lit up in the 4th was insane...not trying for first downs up only three scores with 8 minutes to go...its coaching... Manny is a people pleaser... I mean Marshall few and Ryan rag getting snaps in a one score game blew me away..pope running backwards on every punt...coaching is our issue and it shows on the field it's pretty clear

Offensive Line remains doo doo from last year... nothing's changed.. they were in our backfield all night..

QB/recievers, yes will improve.

Every team is gonna stack the box and dare these guys, they didnt even flash
Do you think UAB wasn’t stacking the box? Do you think UAB’s gameplay was to just allow Miami to run for 350 yards? Miami spent much of the evening running some very basic runs right into a stacked box. They opened it up for a bit to build a lead and then turned the volume right back down again. I understand as fans we want to see an offense come out and wow us with incredible plays but that’s not how football in reality works. In the real world, you keep the game plan simple and basic for two reasons. 1st is that you obviously don’t need to put a bunch of stuff on film against a weaker opponent. 2nd, you just installed a brand new offense with no spring practices and limited practice time in the summer. Your goal in week one is to move the ball, score some points and not turn it over or rack up stupid penalties.
