TVD or Dawson

it would have been a bang/bang throw since we didn't account for the defender on play side edge, but even so ......

4 has to be shallow towards the corner (think "hook to curl") immediately. he's out of position and doesn't react until the safety is filling past him ... (your first screen shot).

once 4 he sees he has absolute leverage he needs to slide towards the corner and show TVD he's read the defense correctly. (make eye contact with the QB!)

he can't move too far west because the edge player will be in a position to affect the throwing lane.

this disaster combined a suboptimal call with suboptimal execution.
i would have rather them run an out on that with young acting like he is coming down to block then releases to the flat with TVD throwing it over the rush end. That safety wouldn’t of had a chance.

The edge defender will be frozen if he does not pull the ball too early

Decent QBs read that DB crashing and know the WR will be open and throw high to the back of the endzone.

Truth is 90% of time QBs throw that ball every time.

Something ain't right, and I'm worried that it's micromanaging from Mario. This isn't the Dawson offense I've seen in the past.

I understand TVD is booty right now but there hasn't been any effort to mitigate his issues. Most of the routes are vertical and outside the hashes. (harder throws) The RB check-downs are all on the outside where (1) they're harder to execute and (2) they don't influence middle-field defenders.

(and this is where I think it's Mario...)

There's a clear obsession with having TE's on the field, sometimes multiple. It's annoying at this point. Our TE's are mediocre pass catchers. They're only in there to block basically. Meanwhile you have athletes like Brashard and Ray-Ray sitting on the bench. GET YOUR BEST 11 ON THE FIELD!!! Fvck that tough guy "identity" bullsh!t.

Going with 10 personnel not only gives this particular offense the best chance to score, but it'll empty the box and actually allow us to run the ball better.
We're not making any effort to get our best athletes in space.

Gonna be hard to recruit elite WR's with this ****.

I don't think this is on Dawson though.
I do think the funny thing about not wanting to go 4 wide and run the ball is that that IS a good way to just have this dominant OLine perform at a high level. It actually plays to the strengths of a dominant Oline imo. Cause I’m putting our 5 OLine against the defenses 6 box all day long. But our OL+ bad Te against 7… edge begins shifting back to defense

My thing is...

Unless you have an elite TE, why the **** is he on the field all game instead of kids like RayRay, Brashard and CJ when those are the players who give you an advantage.

You're doing DC's a favor by having all that speed on the bench in favor of multiple TE's.
Multiple slow TEs who can't catch.

Safeties were crashing down hard all game. Even the announcers were pointing that out.
After watching the play, we likely get that first down if Young blocks Battle (DB) crashing down. That guy knocked Fletcher off his base causing him to fall sideways vs forward. Old Man Cam also whiffed on the LBer which was just as bad.

Maybe so but that wasn't his job on the play

Which means one of two things:
Dawson called a bad play OR TVD didn't read that correctly

I didn't like having Young going inside toward the Safety. Let him run to the flat away from the safety and have TVD throw it up.
Even with the play call, TVD should have pulled it and thrown it over the Safety in the middle.

Give them both a Viking funeral and televise that instead of the game against FSU.

Yeah I don’t disagree that we could have Young run it differently but I think the job for him, was to quickly sell the run and make him self available for the pass.

I don’t think TVd read anyone and just predetermined the give.

Even if he keeps it, he might get blown up by the backside blitzer. Doubt the way he’s been playing, that he would have been able to process the development and then deliver the ball quickly

Interesting note, Dawson said that he has never had a passing problem before. He has had running the ball problems before but never passing, this is a first for him. LOL We know this isn't Mario's first time. To me the problem is Mario. He has had this wrap of handcuffing his OC's before coming to Miami. I've heard about Oregon hiring a hot OC Joe Moorhead and his offense was bleh at Oregon and looked nothing like what he had before.

Moorhead looked exactly the same at Oregon as he did at Penn State, Mississippi State, etc. and how he looks now at Akron.

Terrible.

Who tf was most responsible for that offensive abortion that we witnessed tonight? That display was fuccin awful!. What say you? TVD has been straight *** for the last few weeks.
TVD straight *** (because of injuries and because he has the jips).

But Dawson certainly put a game plan together in which he decided not to utilize the skill set of Brashard Smith to try and ease the burden of the QB and help the offense move.

What good idea fairy thought it would be a great plan to not utilize Brashard?
