TVD observation

The kid will be fine and shows a lot of potential. Stop being critical and understand this is his first time out there. He is only get much better as long as this staff is fired.

My concern is he is a very slow starter. Now we know why he always looked like dog crap when he came out in mop up duty. It takes a while for him to get warmed up. Hopefully this can be corrected or else this is Garcia team. In today’s college football you can’t afford to get behind game in and game out. Next week if he starts slow that is now a trend and not an anomaly.

I agree that the slow starts are a concern, but I don't know if that is all on him or the play calling or a combination of both. It seems to me like we'd try to get the running game established early in the games which stalls (cause we can't run) and there is no rhythm to the offense. But when we fall behind, and has to let it rip, it seems like he's a different person. Less thinking, less managing, and just let er rip down the field. When that happens, the running game starts to look better too.

My main concern with him is that he locks onto a receiver sometimes. There was one glaring example (announcers mentioned it yesterday too) - he had a lone receiver up top and 3 to the bottom. We had numbers on the bottom, but he never even once looked towards the bottom.

He's got some good qualities. Cant teach size and arm strength but there are some legitimate concerns as well (pocket presence and accuracy). Jury is still out.

TVD with a hc and a oline is going to be great. Honestly hope he transfers in conference and kills it cause the cis Gods have crowned him dead even though he led a come back vs Virginia and at unc while behind. He can’t make the team not have penalties. He’s not a coach.

great heart and great qb. I feel confident telling all the haters F off
He’s a large part of the reason we were behind but let’s crown him for doing something in the 4th.

He showed a lot of potential. Of course, he is not doing everything he needs to do to be great…Today.

He does not start slow…the offense starts slow with inside runs and the RPO. He can only run the plays that are called and as soon as we fall behind and Lashlee stops running the RPO he looks a lot better. All our QBs have.

Most QBs will improve over time but unfortunately, he will not improve at all under Manny and Staff.

Batted balls is a concern but that’s something that can be worked on. However, poor Ball placement and inability to throw an accurate deep ball are biggest concerns.

You would have to change his entire delivery mechanics to work on batted balls. Exit point on Kings delivery is a good six inches higher. Same with any QB a foot shorter than TVD. It's bad, it's always going to be there unless he gets rid of that slow wind up sidearm delivery.

Someone said he threw a good deep ball above your post. What? My lord, it's terrible. Again, that will never change unless he fixes his mechanics.

This kid will be an interception machine. He can throw some ropes, but he'll be limited to the sidelines or deep center and that's a dangerous place, in particular if they're play two safeties deep. That's exactly what teams will do, trusting the line to wash anything out up the middle short to intermediate.

I don’t think he completed a pass downfield all night. And most throws downfield were uncatchable balls including a couple PI calls we were gift wrapped. I often times don’t know what games this fanbase is watching. I’m not sure I can name a single high level throw he made tonight minus the throw for the 2 point. He makes King look like an elite passer
Sure, he missed on a few downfield throws and some others I am sure we wishes he had back. But go back and watch the game again without bias to serve your narrative. He hit Smith in the left zone in a perfect spot but Smith had his right arm held (no call). He had X on 40 yard ball in the left end zone where X had is hand held. He hit Rambo in the right end zone on back shoulder and Rambo did not hold on, again due to early contact. Yea, he missed a solid 5-7 passes I am sure he wishes he back.

who is our best receiver? Who was at the top locked in a single corner? It was a comeback designed to get the first. The ball was a yard short of where Rambo turned. Miss fire maybe, bad route maybe. We don't know.

I will also say that UNC coverage was pretty good yesterday and TVD was a mixed bag but he shows promise and if he cleans things up a bit. He could be decent.

I remember this guy who had a very rough start to his career here. Went on the road and really struggled in the first half and finished like 15-35. I think he threw a couple picks, no touchdowns, but led the team back for a close loss. Kid turned out to be pretty good after that, winning 32 straight games and would have been 33 if not robbed by the officials. Yep, you guessed it. Ken Dorsey.

I remember every guy after that who struggled early in their career and they also struggled at the end.

Sure, he could go down the Dorsey route (nah, I don't believe that for one second) or he could be like the rest that followed.

I'm not sure why people always reach with the exceptions to the norm. The mechanics on this young man need to be completely overhauled for him to find success. Nothing against him, I just don't see it.

Since you are such the QB guru, please send TVD your info so he can get in touch with you. While you are at it, include Lamar Jackson on your distribution. Crazy how bad his arm angle is, Lamar won’t amount to anything

He’s got a lot of good traits. Maybe he can be developed, I hope he can because he’s likeable.

But he missed a lot of open receivers and stares down his primary reads, hence batted balls and picks.

If he can’t start to hit open guys, the rest is moot.
First play of the game he missed a 20 yard gain. It's beyond weird that this team for years (multiple coaches) has come out in the first half save the VT and ND games in 2017 sleepwalking. I sat at ND in 2016 and they didn't show up until the 3rd quarter.

Its tough to get a good read on him thus far. He seems to lack a certain moxie in his demeanor and language but he kinda showed a bit of it in the 4th quarter today. Need more data on him and we'll get it over the rest of the season.

His lack of accuracy is the most concerning thing for me. I can see him getting better at going through his progressions but again, the accuracy issue concerns me the most about him.
One silver lining to Garcia being hurt is that we will get a good read on what we have with TVD. Does he get consistently better, or are all we going to see are flashes of something good?
