My only argument against declining the bowl invite is losing those 15 practices. They go a long way in player development.

Development for who? There’s no QB on the roster that can complete a forward pass outside of TVD. Recievers won’t get catchable balls. RB’s will get destroyed bc the defense isn’t worried about passes. The defense isn’t gonna get any better bc they won’t be challenged. If anything it’ll create bad habits trying to jump routes, etc.

All you’re doing is risking injury for a glorified scrimmage.

Obviously, for some of us this is about as good of an early Christmas present that you can get. Beyond that, this shows me once again that this dude could give two ***** about this team. If you really plan on transferring, ok, but did you really need to come out and say this now when we’re going into our final game, which most can agree is already going to be a tough place to go on the road and win? This guy continues to come across as a someone who would rather be any place but here.

You can’t sacrifice the hard work of others, in other words, the team for TVD. Too many guys working hard, putting their bodies on the line for them to be rewarded with a Bowl game in which walk on are going to be playing at the most important position on the field: QB!!!!

I agree. Ray Charles could see this coming with TVD. We should have been getting someone, anyone some real game time experience. We have not done that. TVD ain't playing. I don't blame him. We are just gonna have to toss a dude out there and see if they can play. It is what is at this point.

I understand his wanting to RS if that’s what this is all about but if it got down to him or a walk-on wouldn’t his playing give the rest of the team a hint of his loyalty to the team ( unless the other rumor about him heading East with the geese and not wanting to chance getting hurt is what this is all about) and give the fans and coaches a look at his ability to actually play QB in a game

Yup, this is the QB you claim failed the program this year. The same one who has been ripped apart for the past month. Imagine playing with those injuries - I doubt any of you who continually bash this guy would have done any better.

You want to blame someone? Blame the staff for putting him out there. Sometimes you are your own worst enemy and the fact he even WANTED TO TRY to play should be commended. I guess it's part of being TUFF and FIZICAL, right?

I don't blame him one bit for not playing in a bowl game. He took more shots last week.

Rumors are Cohen isn't playing this week or the bowl. I wonder who else will hit the bench too?

He should’ve sat himself. He has a responsibility to his own body and performance of the team. It’s not just the staff although they bear burden of allowing him to play.

The player (I know, they want to play and think they can) has a say as they know their body.

This is two years in a row where his health has failed him and the team. Everyone plays hurt and some injuries are worse than others. Mario shouldn’t have played him (it was obvious) and TVD himself should’ve not gone out there and made his situation and the teams situation worse than it already was.

2010 was bad. Harris got nailed against Virginia, Spencer Whipple came in and sucked beyond belief, and they had to burn Morris redshirt. Burning Morris redshirt set off a chain of events. Morris would start as a redshirt senior in 2014 and Kaaya would have took over as a redshirt freshman in 2015.

What's sad is that our depth was fine in 2008. We had four QBs - Marve (2 years experience), Harris (1 year), Smith, (1 year), Cook (1 year). Then Marve leaves in the spring of 2009. Then Smith and Cook leave simultaneously in Aug 2009. That leaves us with just Jacory going into the 2009 season.

We got Stephen Morris for 2010, which got us to two (whoopee - terrible depth still).

Then the issue compounded with Shannon's departure. That took Teddy Bridgewater away from us. Despite a strong push for Jacoby Brissett, we ran with just two quarterbacks again in 2011.

Golden then signed three quarterbacks for the 2012 class.
