Secondly, there may be an amicable departure. If Gattis lands a new job, there would be no contract buyout.

Not going pro after last year's short-lived, miracle run over those five final games is what hurt his Draft stock, as this "sophomore slump" as a started showed a kid with a lot less moxie and mojo rolling into this season. Gattis aside, this kid was a deer in the headlights from week one this year and it continued. Hardly the OC's fault regarding how he didn't show up for Middle Tennessee and threw back-to-back interceptions to start the game.
