Official TVD comments on Hard Rock

How about we don't play cupcakes? People that live in cities have choices and watching Miami play Bethune is not something that is drawing any interest except from the die hards.

Teams with a good fan base draw regardless of opponents.

This fan base generally sucks, is fair weather and splashy event focused. Always has been and always will be.

All the complainers, show up Saturday. If you don’t, then stop complaining as you become part of the problem and certainly not the solution..

The Orange Bowl was run down, had ****** parking/traffic and lousy attendance.
Hard Rock Stadium is freshly remodeled, has great parking/traffic and has lousy attendance.

Maybe attendance is just going to be lousy except for a few big games.

Exactly. And that's why building a new stadium just for UM is pointless and a complete waste of money. It will do nothing to increase attendance once the shine wears off after a few games.

As others have pointed out, there is a lot of additional revenue to be had from a stadium. The devil's in the details.

All these guys trying to rewrite history, reinvent the wheel and come up for solutions to a problem that have none make me lol.

It will just lead to people pulling receipts when the new stadium gets built to dunk on the guy who swore so many more people would go and the students will just walk and show up in droves.

Of all the reasons to build a stadium, attendance is dead last.

If the complaint is that the stadium feels empty, then play at a smaller stadium (ie: Duke basketball playing at Cameron Indoor --- 9,300 capacity. That stadium rocks and the crowd is small) ... or don't schedule these cupcakes that are not exciting at all and just give a bad look for us.

For private schools, we hold our own (Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Duke, Baylor, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Stanford, Northwestern, Boston College, USC). We just need to work with what we got with our fan base and maximize the experience. The current system isn't optimal.

I could buy that if you were talking about investing 20-30 million but you are talking upwards of a half a billion dollars to build stadium that doesn't resemble that FAU glorified high school stadium. At that price tag, it would take so long to actually be a profit center. All the money in college football today is in TV contracts. A stadium would be a bad investment.

LOL. Nobody is gifting the university a half billion dollar stadium. Look, I think what Ruiz is doing with NIL is great and all but I just don't believe for a minute that he is going to build a stadium and hand the deed over to the university.

I have a bad feeling about this year. Just a bad vibe so early in season and early in tenure: Gattis throwing players under bus, tvd comments which aren’t bad but should NEVER be said publicly to media, injuries, no recruiting juice what so ever….. just a lot of bad juju type stuff happening right now. Hope that changes fast

REPOSSESSED!!!!!

Putting a muzzle on TVD is still not going to stop what the eyes can see. The fans are mad at the messenger but not the message.

And yeah I get it, he's the face of the program blah blah blah. But it comes a time when you have to keep it real. Attendance sucks and we all know it!

My man. Do you know what recruiting is?

It is selling the future.

I don’t care how things have been. Recruiting is about selling how they will be. And then turning that sales pitch into reality.

Change is the only constant in life. Sure, past performance is relevant to future results… but things can always change.

Right now, Mario is trying to sell change.

Do you think it’s helpful to have the team’s highest profile player and starting qb DEFECATE all over a big part of the future that Mario is selling?

And - yeah - Miami fans can by $#!++y… but anyone who works in the Hecht and is resigned to playing in front of an empty stadium should be fired immediately.

Don’t like the current reality? Work until you change it.

That is Mario’s mantra - and I believe he actually has a chance.

I know that if Miami got back the 80’s level of dominance and scheduling mantra (anyone, anywhere, anytime), Hard Rock would be a **** fun place to spend a Saturday for most home games.
