Yes, there are few with the charisma of Nick Saban and Bill Belichick. :cool:
 
Alot of times whoever gets named as first choice for coach dont end up getting job. Unless it is a big name coach it seems
 
Of our coordinators are getting HC jobs it means we have good coordinators. And more people would want to be coordinators here.

I like Dawson even though he can be frustrating at times. The only thing that scares me about Dawson is ability to recruit and develop HS QBs.

He’s been great here.

That would be a first, if I’m being completely honest. But that would be a welcomed change for sure.

Hope it’s the same for portal QB too.

Nah sorry. Offense was slow and plodding for way too many games before they "let it rip". Took too long to figure out how to use Toney, took too long to figure out Lyle was horrible and Pringle is our best back when it was obvious from the jump, took too long to stop running up the gut 20x a game, etc.

Last 4 games, Dawson was great. Before then, meh at best.

Here's a clear example - You can blame Beck for UL, but we got COMPLETELY out-coached and out-game planned by Brohm. After a bye week, what did Brohm do? Came out with 2 QB's and completed confused us to lead to an easy 14 points. What did Dawson do? Run it up the gut, zero creativity, nothing new, was night and day difference.

Dawson is an above avg OC overall but far from elite. If Mario can hire a Heatherman-like OC, we're cooking next year.

Has Belicheck accomplished anything at a P4 program?

In this NIL era, top coaches need to be fund raiser in addition to whatever calling card they have (recruiter, talent developer, scheme master, etc). Not sure Dawson has that, but it’s about time we find out. He deserves a quality shot and Tulane is probably as good as that initial start as he could hope for.
 
If true then Mario better be very serious with next oc. The one he hired in 2022 really made me doubt him. After seeing dawson vs Texas am in 2023 I was sold.hope he gets an OC that's serious about going for the jugular
 
This would suck because at minimum it means:

We have to find a new OC that knows how to use Mali

We have to prove that we have a guy on deck that can keep producing QBs

We have to re-recruit the roster once we get the guy

We have to do it all on a quick timeline, not Mario’s usual bull****
