Tulane's #1 Choice Is Dawson

after reading the media reports, it looks like Dawson only spoke with them via telephone, that is the inference.

i doubt he is a serious candidate if he has not had face to face meetings. and i doubt he'd leave coral gables right now to interview in charleston.
Kinda how I read it too. I feel like this is raise posturing/let schools know he could be interested in the right opening.

I feel like a good CFP run, and another solid offensive year could net him a much bigger opportunity than Coastal Carolina.

He makes a deep run this year and has a good year next, with another qb and our weapons - I won't be upset at hiiim leaving, BC we can get another great OC, we'll be marquis at that point.

I could see him going to a spot like Tulane, feel like coastal would be a tough place for him to thrive. He’s either gonna kill it be on to better gigs or fall flat in his face and back TJ being an OC.

I’ll never hate on a coaching take his shot at being a HC. I’d do the same if I was in their shoes. I just think going to CC is doing himself a disservice. Would feel like taking the first opportunity to be an HC.

Hearing Ryan Beard is the guy at Coastal (Missouri State HC)

Dawson watch over considering the jobs still open. Maybe USM another to watch but I feel like that one’s just a tier below where he should be looking. Felt the same about Coastal.
Feel like USM fans would NOT be happy about that given their reactions online when we hired Dawson lol

Would be nice for coaching staff to stabilize for a few years. Constantly turning over coordinators & assistant obviously isnt good.

As an aside, not using it to defend or argue, this was a stat I just found interesting coming into the season:

"That means, if my iPhone calculator math is correct, only 18 FBS staffs (13 percent) have a head coach, offensive and defensive coordinator, and strength coach that have been in their current roles* at their current schools for longer than two seasons. Of those 18, 13 are in their third seasons, three are in their fourth, and one apiece in their fifth and sixth seasons. Only 4 percent have a braintrust in place as long as a presidential administration."

Is this still a thing in CFB?

Even the top teams, like OSU and Saban’s Bama, have constant turnover in those spots. You either kill it and leave after 2–3 years to be a HC, or you get fired.

Saban and Smart are the outliers as they have had pretty good continuity in their staffs. In 15 seasons at Bama, Saban had 8 OCs and 5 DCs. Smart in 10 seasons has had 4 OCs and 3 DCs. Interestingly, they had more turnover the last 4-5 years than they did their first 4-5 years.

Day in 7 seasons has had 3 OCs and 4 DCs.

Nice data. So the top programs basically average a new coordinator every three seasons
