2026 Tristen "TK5" Keys 5* WR from Hattiesburg, MS commits to LSU

Bama 247

“Five-star LSU receiver commit Tristen Keys(Hattiesburg, MS) continued his summer tour of sorts over the weekend with an official visit to Tennessee. He returns to Alabama from June 17-19 for an official visit before getting back to LSU (June 20-22). Miami has also hosted the No. 1 receiver in the country for an official visit to kick off the summer. Bama247 will continue to follow the latest in this recruitment, but it feels like Keys sticking with the Tigers or flipping elsewhere (not named Alabama) is more likely at this point.”

Long winded way of saying they know nothing

WR Tristan Keys (Hattiesburg, MS) is even more up in the air and feels like it will have some twists and turns. Miami is right in the thick of it.

Congrats bro!!!
Wasn’t trying to beat my chest and not trying to brag I was right but I see the stuff written up here and compare that to what D$ says about feeling real good about the kid and try not to get overjoyed about something that has a small chance of happening from the beginning basing things on past history…

I also hope that Brown ends up being a Cane just don’t see it happening either knowing how past results with these local kids turn out.

I hope I’m wrong and I’ll be glad to enjoy a 10 course meal of crow if either one ends up a Cane. I trust Mario ad a recruiter but these kids have LSZu burned into their brains from birth. I just wish the local kids around Miami had half the loyalty these kids around here do when it comes to LSU.i love to know that we’d always be getting the top kids in the area every year and then only having to fill in the class around them….surd would be nice. Maybe some day it might be that way .

Pre-warning for the old crowd. Presentation. Along with a track record, presentation. That 2019 LSU team hit right before TikTok exploded in the pandemic. Their guys produce, they dance in the endzone, they do TikTok's in the locker room, and these young receivers' algorithms are flooded with LSU edits and content. Kyren Lacy is a good recent example. The persona of Lacy far outpaced his accomplishments as a player or his draft projections because of his "tripout" (New Orleans Bounce, IYKYK) edits. I've seen a ton of Tre'Dez Green edits, kid had 13 catches last year (4 TDs). Fact is places like LSU, and now USC are ALL-IN on social media content. Recruit edits, highlights, IG, TikTok's. Outside of maybe LA with USC, Miami would be unmatched in boosting kids' Q rating with this kind of social media emphasis and influence. Look at 1 year of Cam Ward. Legendary season on his own merits, but I'd die on the hill that not he's as much of a phenomenon at Ohio State or whatever other school he may have considered. He had been doing the 🤭🫳🫳 for years. Didn't even invent it. Became a national wave at Miami.

The current team has guys like Tony and Jojo who are very popular with younger players. Would be wise to go all-in promoting them this season. Kids gravitate to the social media stars (like it or not). 10 years since they could tout a 1st round receiver, use what you do have, along with offering kids top of the market compensation.

Old heads are going to hate it but in the world we live in now, this is 100% a fact. These kids spend so much time online now that they all want to have the biggest social media presence and be influencers and blah blah blah. We need to lean into it. Not many places better in the country for social media branding/image that you could do this at than Miami.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same”

Yes, I’m an old head. But nothing, and I mean nothing trumps production and winning.
So we can all be retrospective and praise that lsu team. But without the record breaking offense and national championship, it’s just some dudes on tik tok.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t adapt and use social media more. But winning takes care of all of that. The fanbase, the media, influencers will all jump on board and promote Miami and its players if we’re making plays and putting up points. Social media has a life of its own and you just have to give it a reason to care about you.

Intel over the last month has pinned Tennessee and Miami right near the top of the list of contenders in position to change Keys' mind.

A final decision is expected before the end of this month.

"Mom wants it out the way and I want to focus on my senior year," Keys said. "It's gonna be a big decision for sure. It's gonna be hard. It's about the little things. Chopping it up, comfortability, the family, development."

I too am an old head. What I posted, I also complain about. I played receiver for a bit in college, I coach kids, coach 7v7. Kids now are all off vibes or "aura", no not 100% but a lot. A case can be made that the edits of Chase and Jefferson doing the griddy, and the LSU team dancing in the oval office were just as influential as the record breaking stats. Joe Burrow had a LEGENDARY edit done that year. I see kids gravitate to "trainers" because of the social media presence not because they're actually focused on skills that translate to games. It is what it is. Of course winning is the most important to the coaches and fans, but the two things aren't mutually exclusive. I'm strictly talking influencing perception among a demographic that's easily influenced. "Trip out" songs are popular backdrops to social media edits, also goes hand-in hand with LSU's players. South Florida's dances and music (similar to Jersey) are popular on social media too, use it. Adidas is leaning into HS/College athletes, use it. Get some young folks in that media department, freelance, whatever, to mass-produce content. Make these young skill players famous
