You don't get my point, at all.

We've had 1 bowl win in 20 years.

I never mentioned anything about last season.

The fact we are even having this discussion means our staff is overachieving on the recruiting trail.

We just had the 1st pick in the draft. We have a top 5 projected pick on our roster right now. We have possibly the best OT we've seen since McKinnie coming in.

Thats just a drop in the bucket of the overachieving Mario and Co. have done on the recruiting trail.

If you wanna pick apart almost every other aspect of the program, go for it.

Complaining about our recruiting is wild work.
Man if you want me to cry for a man getting 8 million to do his job find somebody else, you mentioned all that talent and Mario ain’t did **** with it, not a bowl game, not an ACC APPEARANCE not even winning it we can’t get to it, but please keep telling me how fun it was watching cam ward play last year, it amounted to another disappointing season like every Mario year so far

Last year was many steps forward, a few steps backwards. Overall a positive but there was still a ton of ammo given to opposing programs that ultimately weigh heavy right now. Last year was a make or break season. Mario desparetely needed success...he got some of it but enough.

This year is now another make or break type year for Mario.

Another 10+ win seasons this year and a playoff appearance would do wonders. We haven't had that kind of "sustained" success in 20+ years.

Mario desperately needs Beck to maintain his 90% win rate this year and for Hetherman to take significant strides with that defense.

I don’t think winning will make much of a difference. The top recruits want 1) to get drafted on day 1 2) NIL. Ward goes #1 in draft. We replace him with one of the most coveted QB transfers out of the SEC. We haven’t had a WR get drafted early in forever. 5 star WRs shun Miami. No LBs to NFL, no top LB recruits. We still have DEs get drafted high. We land 5 star DEs. We don’t have DTs drafted high, we don’t get DTs. We have TEs that get drafted. We get top TE recruits.

Do I need to continue explaining the pattern? If Miami wants to convince WR recruits they have a chance of being a top draft pick, then UM needs to get our guys drafted. AT MINIMUM, bring in a position coach with a track record of having his players get drafted on day 1. Raise your hand if you are surprised that the WR coach from Toledo isn’t inspiring confidence in many 5 star WR prospects.

bingo. Notice OL isn't a problem?
RB's and TE's really arent either, Cooper was promised pt and they won't take anyone else at UT.

none of these kids grew up seeing miami kids dominate in NFL.

Yes and the thing is that it’s also a problem that is relatively easy to address. We don’t necessarily need to develop a 5 star WR out of HS and get him drafted high to prove to other WRs that Miami isn’t a dead end. Ward was a transfer who went from being a 4th rounder to #1 in one season- and other QBs began showing interest. Find a top WR already in college, pay him to transfer, and if can be a day 1 draft pick you’ll suddenly see a miraculous improvement in WR recruiting. Same for the other positions where Miami is struggling in recruiting. I don’t buy the “we can’t get recruits because we aren’t in the P2” narrative. Recruits aren’t necessarily interested in going P2 because they play the best football, they want to go P2 because they believe the chances of being a top draft pick are higher. I think draft potential is a bigger concern for most recruits than NIL. So what if Miami will pay an extra 500k per year over a UGA or Texas. What’s the salary difference between a day 1 pick and a day 3 pick? My guess is a lot more than 500k per year.

Which Texas football players have they watched “dominate” the league in the past 10 years?

Earl Thomas had a nice run with the legion of doom like 10 years ago… been awhile since Jamal Charles played…

ND is in its complete own atmosphere in college football. Not saying it’s great or awful or anything…it’s just different. It’s the most unique program in the country.

These kids are built differently people. They don’t care about 2 minutes a go, never mind 10 years. They care about the next click, the next social media influencer, the next video, what everyone else is doing. Don’t give a **** about history, putting on for home, nothing. That is how you have to sell them, need to meet them where they are.

I totally get your point but everyone said last season would have a big impact on this years class, bowl win or not last year I don’t think one win takes us from top 15 to top 5 in recruiting
It’s how we ended the season though. We were 9-0 on November 3rd and then ended up 10-3. They remember us losing 3 of the last 4 and looking the like the 3rd tier program we have been the past two decades. The goodwill and favor of us dog walking UF faded quick.

Anyone bringing up Notre Dame in conversations about impact of conference on recruiting, brand, etc is either arguing in bad faith or just completely disconnected from reality. They have an entire god**** religion behind them as a built in fanbase.

Absolutely. Proof of draft concept is more important to these kids than winning. We struggle to recruit DT and WR, well, we better have the coaches & scheme to maximize the ones we land to eventually get a couple drafted in the 1st-3rd round in both position groups to finally see dividends landing 5 stars at those spots.
