Travonte Valentine was NEVER coming to UM after all.

Highly touted LSU freshman defensive tackle Travonte Valentine is still awaiting clearance from the SEC office about his high school academic standing, but he might not play this season even if he gets the go-ahead.

Valentine, who at one time was purportedly 6-3 and 325 pounds, showed up in Baton Rouge extremely overweight, according to a source. The combination of needing to lose weight and the SEC’s ongoing review of his academic credentials makes him a likely candidate to redshirt this season.

Valentine received approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse late last month, but the SEC is continuing to look into his academics from Champagnat Catholic School. He led the Miami-area program to the Florida Class 2A title last season.

Champagnat is a 247-student school for grades 6-12 and is located next to a used-car dealership. It’s drawing increased scrutiny in college football circles.

Another source familiar with Valentine’s academics is stunned that he received approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse. The source said Valentine had very few high school credits entering his junior year.

“If Travonte Valentine qualifies there’s something wrong,” the source said. “It’s not humanly possible."

I know the ncaa is sec rubber stamp, but how bad must it be if the sec is gaging on it? No way this kid was ever getting into THE U. Does Slave Trader have to refund the payment? Back in the day, it was buying beware on slaves, but maybe today there are some consumer protection laws.

Wow so all of last year when there was hope he'd make it here it was all a huge troll job and he still hasn't even gotten to LSU? I remember I was excited Rashard Robinson wouldnt make it and this is almost a month longer then that. Wow we're lucky we got away from this headache

Lmao, so are you saying that dollar store they call a school didn't set him up for success?

I thought he didn't come to Miami because he didn't want to bulk up, rofl.

Heard when LSU was having issues getting him through the SEC situation he reached out to UM but I don't think we could get him in.

I would take him any day! BUT if the SEC will redflag him so will every other conference.

now the question is.. if the SEC said.. no this is not going to work.. his credits etc are no good.. can he still play football the following year?

yep, or better yet, didn't he (or genron, can't remember) say he wanted to stay at 325?

Now if he cant get in to LSU and lets say he goes prep how much does it help? I ask because I had a friend who had the same issues with his credits and he had to go back to HS and do some summer classes just to get it back up and im not sure if Prep would help him. Does anybody know?

so you're saying theres still a chance....

I don't give a **** how **** went down, and know its very unlikely....but, i still hope that filthy beast ends up here
