Tracy Howard

Richard Sherman doesn't need to run a 4.4 forty. He's 6'3" and plays primarily Cover-3.

Nothing like Howard.

If used correctly, it doesn't really matter.

Ok, but you can't post a pic of a 6'3" Cover-3 Corner when somebody says that Howard is too slow, as if you're implying that Sherman's lack of speed doesn't hurt him. The only reason Sherman's lack of speed doesn't hurt him is because of the scheme he plays in. When you're 6'3" and play primarily Cover-3 then you can afford to be a tick slower.

Mid-4.5 for a 6'3" CB is pretty good anyway.

(and I'm not part of the "Howard is too slow" crowd)

That was my only point. (agree with everything you said) I think great coaches adjust to the skill sets around them, not force their players to adjust to their coaching strengths. There is no need to bulk kids up to be big & slow if being explosive is their biggest strength. Misusing our talent is Golden's biggest weakness IMO (besides McDonald's cheeseburgers)

**** yeah! Let's compare Tracy Howard to one of the top-5 Corners in the entire NFL!

*high five*

I guess you haven't been paying attention at all have you Coach?

Tracy Howard is just not that talented. He's small and not very fast. He has good feet and good instincts, and I think he's developed into a quality third corner. But he's not a five-star talent. Burns and Elder are much better players.

Chad Thomas is a different story.

The entire argument I have been addredssing over the last few pages has been whether Tracy Howard was too slow to be successful at corner.

if you dont got speed at corner your gonna get burned plain and simple tracy dont have it

I simply proved that he is plenty "fast" to play corner. And now everyone acts all *** raped about it.

The problem with Howard is that plays for a coach that doesn't adjust his scheme to fit his talent. He expects the kids to fit his scheme...well, that's stupid, b/c if u recruit a press corner who was one of the leaders in the nation for ints from the DB position, y would u force him to play into a scheme that doesn't fit his skill set? Don't recruit that type of player. Golden is a horrible talent evaluator for what he wants to run. AQM has not thrived here (No 3 WDE in the nation); Chick did not thrive here (No. 3 SDE in the nation); Bush has been inconsistent here (No. 7 S in the nation); McCord has not thrived here (No. 7 WDE in the nation); Chad has not thrived here thus far (No. 3 WDE in the nation); Howard has not thrived here (No. 1 DB in the nation); Hamilton has not thrived here (No. 7 DT in the nation). I mean, literally I can go on and on regarding regarding top rated defensive studs coming out of HS have failed and/or not lived up to the hype since coming to Miami under Golden's watch. Coincidence? Doubt it.

When I saw Tracy Howard play against my high school (multiple times), you couldn't throw to his side. Dude locked down every receiver he was put on and made huge plays. The coaches at Miramar clearly let him freelance and he went after it. He earned the 5-star tag for a reason.

I just think he doesn't fit well with Doritos' scheme, then again, who really does?

I agree ...... TH3 was g.u.m.p in high school

What scheme is best for Tracey Howard's talent? If he can't cover the white receivers from Boston College, FAU and Nebraska, what makes you believe he could cover Travis Rudolph or Ermon Lane or Scott from Clemson.

He will be fine next year

In the NFL

Tracy will not make a NFL team playing like that. If he pull this in an NFL camp he will be cut.

I just watched the EXACT same technique and attitude from a current Bear and former VT star Kyle Fuller. He had flashes but has been being brutalized since mid year last season. Antrell Rolle just essentially called him out for not taking his job seriously and Fuller has been benched by John Fox.
My reason for saying this is that Tracy Howard might get drafted but I think we all saw the difference in "attitude" last year between a kid like him and a kid like Gunter, who is now in the NFL..Tracy wont stick unless he steps up his game, and it has NOTHING to do with our crappy coach.

BS. Howard got beaten on press coverage multiple times this year.

He did a very good job with Rashard Greene. Ermon Lane hasn't done anything at FSU. Tracy played poorly early last season against sub-par opponents, but had good games against the better teams.

Homie, y r u even commenting? U know nothing about Cane football; all u know is how to defend To defend Golden and anything associated with Golden.

Noticed how u neglected to address not only Howard but every other stud I mentioned in my post. So take Howard out of the equation for a moment, slurp derp, explain why no other highly ranked recruit has lived up to the hype under Golden?

I think Howard is solid. I think we just have to accept that he was a great high school player but only a solid college player. This is the best scheme for Howard. Yea he was a beast in high school but how many D1 qbs and wideouts did he face? He isn't much of an athlete. We say he was a press corner but he has been beat when pressing on countless occasions. As for Gunter, I still think Tracy was better but Gunter offers more with size and strength... Howard will get his shot in the NFL but I don't see him playing much.

Whine all you want, but my statement about Howard, in this thread about Howard, is correct. For someone who pretends to know anything about football, you seem to miss the very obvious fact that Howard has been the most targeted, and burned, CB on our team whether playing press coverage (supposedly his strong point) or not. Against FAU, he was the "go to" corner for the QB to throw against, and his man or zone was typically wide open.

Who's whining? I asked u a specific question. I said let's take Howard out of the equation for a moment, why hasn't ANY of our top defensive recruits thrived in Golden's scheme and I'm still awaiting ur answer. See when someone ask u a str8 up question, u always deflect or hide. So answer the question Golden apologist?

He shouldn't see the field imo. He's been a total disaster.

He broke a pass on Saturday - a sure interception by Carter. I would bench him.

Burns
Elder
Redwine
Jackson
Henley
Mayes

Scheme and concepts have nothing to do with it when you are in a wr face smelling his breath, but neglect to turn around for an easy int, while the wr reaches around you and grabs the ball for a td

Howard is still having nightmares about Nebraska. He got embarrassed.
