The fact that Golden kept D'Onofrio for five years is proof he wasn't HFC material. The ones who place loyalty to their assistants/friends above the best interests of the program always fall short in the end

Guidry gave 'em a run for their money in 2024 at Syracuse
 
Not everything was under his control. A poor recruiting class in 2010 followed by Shannon’s dismissal led to to ecisceration of the 2011 class and the departure of Bridgewater. Why does that matter? Because Miami had roughly 40 blue chip players each season in 2006-2009, and those two factors cut that blue chip number in half by 2011. On paper our roster was reduced to a historic, all time low…in a pre transfer portal era and the Shapiro scandal then popping at a time where most new coaches enjoy their best recruiting success.

I still think about the just off his fingertips almost TD to Berrios right before the half against FSU in 2014. We ended up missing the FG and went into the half with that 16 point lead everyone knew wasn’t gonna hold up. A TD there puts us up 23, or maybe 24 and there’s a good chance we would have squeaked out a W. We were 6-3 going into that game, and had a chance at a respectable season, but that loss killed the team for the rest of the season and we lost 4 straight, capped by a dog performance against South Carolina in the bowl game. After all that, Golden was a dead man walking for 2015.

All these years later and we still got porsters using the infamous "cloud" to carry water for Al Golden and Dorito.
 
I watched this episode, Tracy Howard gave some good insight about the program under Al Golden. IMO Tracy would’ve been a first round pick on a better team.

Losing your best player hurt after FSU. Nothing against Crawford because he won us the UNC game but he was nowhere near the caliber of Duke Johnson. Defense was to blame though for the Duke and Va Tech losses.
 
In 2013 we gave up an average of 426 yards per game and twice gave up 540 yards (USF) and 556( UNC). Poor Al Golden, just a misunderstood coach who had bad players.

The USF game Miami had 540 yards and gave up 288. I was about to lose my **** like did they really give up that many in a 49-21 win lol.

Golden is easily the worst coach we've ever had and the only one I actually hate. He was a dirt bag who refused to take any responsibility for his under performance. The highlight of his career here was his introductory press conference, I'll give him that.

I remember the hype of him being a good recruiter but no one can say the scandal didnt hurt and cut him off from beginning but him putting his friendship over the university and him tryna parachute to psu and his terrible defense just overshadows everything else..

Let’s also not forget him trying to bail on the team to Pedo State and that whole fiasco. Dirt bag indeed.
