Track and field team rankings

I don’t pay track rankings any mind. You can literally have 1 person place at nationals and become a top 20 team. All sprinters no the best places to go for development. Miami hasn’t been one of those places in the past. They haven’t had the resources to compete at a high level. hopefully radakovich will give the program the resources they need to compete at a higher level.

Fun fact, Ed Reed still holds the school record in javelin throw lol
Horace Copeland has more school Track records than anyone.

I was only good enough to compete in high school track. But I can confirm those were some of the best coed moments. Especially winter track bus rides back in the dark. No Easterling type stuff going on. But fun times that led to a girlfriend and another hookup later on out of the deal.
Ahhh the winter track bus…

Those Jamaicans would love the opportunity and cherish the education.
My country ....the bahamas is closer than Broward County to Um...and we currently have the fastest MALE AND FEMALE 400m runners in the world the last 4 years or so....even closer than Jamaica.

Um would make a killing just recruiting those 2 countries.

Pretty good article on DVD’s track experience. We need to email Rad and Amy Deem. The current track roster has some international flair coming from Europe, Canada and one from Nigeria.

Wait, where's Horace Copeland?

You have to realize that football ceased to exist in his mind 20 years ago. Apparently so did track and field. Thanks for posting those records.

You'll have to forgive him though.

The DC sprinter / DE recruit / track freak would rank right now with his high school times as the 4th fastest in the 100 and fastest 200 ever. It's safe to say there's zero chance he's coming here if he's serious about track.

The Horace of 1991 would waste anyone on our team in the 100 today. @Brooklyndee could run with anyone on this yrs team as well....and we're talking 27yrs ago....

Hopefully Radakovich will not waste time or money on the track team right now.
I always trained with the track team in off season in running events and shot out and disc all for speed and hand eye coordination inc basketball.

No matter the size other sports love to have bodies there works wonders.

The season never ends for champions

He doesn’t have a choice. Miami is building a football facility where the current track is. Track team has to go somewhere.

By resources, I was referring to a full allotment of mens track scholarships. I don’t even know if the team has a full 12.6. Track is never going to be a revenue generating sport but having a solid sprints team is always a help to football.

That’s a totally unsubstantiated rumor. It’s more likely than not that Cobb is staying right where it is, unless someone can tell me where they’re going to put a new track/stands.

That’s fair not confirmed but multiple people have referenced that as the potential place for the new facility. It definitely wouldn’t be a surprise. Track usually gets the shaft in situations like this

I mean anything is possible, but you just can’t leave them without a place to practice/run and have meets/invitationals, unless you plan to disband the program, and with Amy Deem getting an extension, that doesn't seem likely.

I’d rather see them upgrade the men’s track program to be honest. A big boy P5 program should always also have a men’s track team.

Forgot what podcast I was listening to with former player and someone asked why the players dont run track anymore.. He was like them boys dumb them trips on road with both teams were more fun than going away games for football..
I ran track, it was fun, cuz more often its multiple days and your race or event is very short and u get to chill, sight see, talk to other people. I used to love going to meets in Texas.

Who is going to step up and FUND it? The reason Deem gets money for the women's side is because of Title IX, and it makes sense. That program needs someone to step up and really put money into it, the big time track programs have people that are extremely into it and they fundraise. Arkansas has a group of former letterwinners that went on to success in other things and they are really, really passionate about the program. Never mind the fact that like baseball, track is a partial scholarship sport, and it's tougher to get kids to come to a place like Miami, where they are going to most likely have to come out of pocket, unless they are extremely intelligent and can get some merit aid(Which they are now cutting as well).

Never mind the fact that the days of a ton of football guys running track are **** near over, few schools have that going on, most of these guys are specialists running track at places like Alabama, Arkansas, etc.

Totally agree. That’s what it’s going to take. I don’t disagree with a word you posted, and that’s where I was heading to. I was just trying to set it up, but you finished it up for me.

Very similar to what’s happened to the football program, I’ve been saying it about football for years, and I mean since practically I’ve been on this site, that we needed our fans to step up with donations. I used to get a lot of pushback on that.

I agree 100%
