"Tough Team Meeting"

Dude really?

In 11 regular season games the 2000 team, arguably the second best team here ever had 97 penalties for 952 yards.
In 11 regular season games, the 2001 team, the greatest team ever had 109 penalties for 944 yards.
In 11 regular season games the 2002 team had 124 penalties for 124 yards.

I can go on and on and on.

This has been a problem here forever. Please don't give me the showboating or aggression nonsense. Canes teams have ALWAYS been undisciplined and error prone, no matter who the coach was.

But you failed to mention, that those Hurricane teams from the glory years were GREATER than 95% teams they played. In other words, those Hurricane teams could DEFEAT both their opponents and the game referee's.

I did mention that.

LSU’s offense didn’t do **** that game. And that Wisconsin game was only 14-3 at half despite FOUR first half TOs by our embarrassing offense. By the third quarter that defense was gassed and defeated mentally. They couldn’t play the entire game and be effective against that kind of offense.

I mean, yeah, let's pretend that we didn't basically hand LSU a score every single time by going 3 and out and then failing to punt more than 15 yards........sure blame that one on the defense and expect it to win the game all on its own without anything from the offense.

This.

In fact.. as the Canes came out of the tunnel onto the field, I turned to guy next to me and said “I don’t like how we look coming on the field...”. Something seemed off.

Attitude and complacency.

All deficiencies aside (coaching, average line play, penalties)...I firmly believe we roll both Virginias next two games.

Don't do this to your self. We got a pretty good sample size now, and have a pretty good idea what kinda a team this is. This team is rolling no one!!!
We're .500 team, that will be in a dog fight every game. That's our reality.
If you think this team is somehow magically going to get batter after what we have witnessed over the last two years, I don't know what to tell you.

Not really if you listen to most of his interviews he tells it like it is. As much grief as this board gives him, they fail to realize that this is the first coach we have had in a while who is not afraid to make changes if something is not working. He has done this in every area we complained about. I get it the results have not been what we want but he is working to get this team where it needs to be.
We’ll see if he isn’t afraid to make meaningful changes in ALL AREAS that need repair, including coaching and coaching philosophies. He’s clearly shown that he and his staff are capable of blaming and shuffling players around. It remains to be seen if he’s able or willing to fix the myriad coaching issues.

Not saying that Manny might not turn out to be that, but i doubt you can't smell the coffee under your nose based off the emotional comment you made

Bet he can.

I had Golden sniffed out after his second game here as a Corch. Richt after his first four games.

You go back to my posts then - and they're right there in front of God and everyone.

the "Let's give coach _______ more time" gang are mostly 17-20 yo kids who don't have a clue what a Canes championship
looks or feels like. real Canes fans have been fed bull**** for too long and all the patience is gone.

Yep. If you see the team go more to a spread RPO look next week and/or the defense plays more aggressively, then I'll have hope. If they trot out the same stubborn "let's run it straight at them and out-execute them"/"getting back to basics" attitude, the season is lost.

The disease is in the youth football in S. Florida where if you "can ball" it doesn't matter you don't know the down and distance. People said "look what Mack Brown is doing in his first year at UNC". I guarantee he wouldn't have a team of S. Florida kids turned around and playing smart that fast.
This opinion is sadly turning fact. The redneck schools come and cherry pick but the SoFlo diva has to adjust to their culture. Too many in one spot feed off each other. So then you get the culture in our locker room...

Its so obvious many of CIS porsters base their takes on their great personal experience with Madden. They expect a young team, after what happened last season (with 75 scholarships), and approached this season without a starting QB, installed a new system, with all new coaches, and the HC even saying there was still a disease to deal with; to come out of the box and be the 2001 Canes.

Bet the same fools think their girls are really having an ******, too.

This program has made mistakes in hiring, but to this point, there isn't enough of a body of work to judge this. There are some signs that are really positive, if you actually want to notice them. They're are going to be plenty of negatives, that happens too.

Manny articulated exactly how games like this happen, and they do every year. If you ever played real football (again from some of the dopey-*** **** posted here, it looks like a very few have on this fan site), you'd recognize the names for it: "Coming out Flat," "Trap Game," "Let Down Game," or in the NFL; "Any given Sunday." They don't only come after big tough wins, they happen after blowouts. And by the way, they happen to the Ohio States, Michigan's, Clemson's, and Bama's too.

Manny may be great, or may be a goat; but its a little early for all the Pitiful CIS Chicken Little's out there to proclaim the Sky is Falling. Step away from the key board and give it the season; See if he meets what the non-emotional (or hysterical) experts in Vegas called for : 7 wins. I realize a lot of you were offended by that 7 win statement, puffed up and said we were a 10 and 11 win team, but your unrealistic expectations just makes your perceived doom's day harder on you. Thank God you weren't calling the shots on December 8, 1941. Buck-up butter cups.

Our Vegas win total was not 7. It started at 8.5 and 9.
