Top 5 most hated coaches post-Coker

I’m just going HC

5. Richt - Why? B/c despite him being past him prime, he gave us hope. He gave $1m out of his own pocket to build an IPF. Gave us our most recent bowl victory after being desolate for over 10 yrs, was the 1st & only coach to win The ACC Coastal, and when the wheels fell off in 2018, walked away like a man, not asking for a dime.

4. Coker - Why? B/c despite him eroding the U by his laissez faire attitude, he did bring us #5, and was cheated out #6. He marks the last period of dominance (2001 - 2003)

3. Shannon - Why? B/c at least he brought us the #1 class in 2008 (despite how it panned out), and in 2009, we had a brutal schedule to begin the season playing the #18, #14, #11, & #8 teams to start. We went 3-1, and had a solid season. Fact is, we had no juice on O, but the defense remained solid. He was also in over his head, clearly.

2. Golden - Why? B/c he accepted a job w/o being told we were under investigation. In 2013, we had hope, although the wheels came off. Had he not been so loyal to his DC, he would’ve done well here, however, he was a snake & used car salesman. He should’ve never been hired, or extended.

1. Manny - Why? He’s the only coach of the bunch to not win at least 9 games in a single season. We seen historic failures under him. The amount of excuses he used to absolve himself of any responsibility was putrid, and the lack of LB recruiting from a historically strong LB producing school is unacceptable. The fact we’re still the only P5 school to lose to FIU is something that moved him to #1

I hated Al but **** you might be right with this list.

Got nothing but love for Coach Richt...

Should been hired after Shannon at least...

Showed us that a competent P5 Head Coach that knows how to run a legit Football program - got us to 10 wins (albeit some luck). Put juice back into the program, and got us the IPF we needed. Timing (his health) and his son was his issue.

Since coaches are a hot topic at the moment and maybe because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to rank my 5 most hated coaches (assistant or HC) post-Coker. Year after year of watching the Canes have left me a bit numb, I need to feel something and what better way than to release the hate.

And I use the phrase "most hated" and not the word "worst" because rather than just simply look at numbers/statistics, I wanted to rank the coaches by the amount of rage that surfaced watching their interviews. By how much I wanted to jump through my screen and slap the $h!t out of them. By how much agitation they caused me during their tenure. Looking back through the last 15 or so years of utter garbage was BRUTAL. I'm not sure how many other upper-tier P5 schools have had as poor of a record hiring a football staff, but it cannot be many. It was difficult narrowing this list to 5 after sifting through all the names, so you can bet that I'm not overly optimistic for our next hire. In reverse-order:

5) Patrick Nix / OC / 2007 - 2008
I had trouble deciding between this bible-quoting gump and that prick Dan Enos for producing the worst offense I've ever seen. I gave it to Nix in the end because I had to endure an extra year of eye-gouging offense. Coached WR at Charleston Southern afterwards and has been bouncing around Alabama high schools ever since.
4) Al Golden / HC / 2011 - 2015
Another tough choice between him and Diaz. Got destroyed in bowl games, never beat FSU. Completely unaware trying to fatten up players like Chickillo. Shannon had the UVA blowout and Diaz had UNC as their most embarrassing losses, but the 58-0 Clemson beat down has been the closest I've come to questioning my fandom and just forgetting about college football. He can shove his pillars up his...nevermind.
3) Blake Baker / DC / 2019 - 2020
Completely unqualified to be the DC here. It felt like he was just Manny's puppet who had no original ideas of his own. Absolutely no personality, I recall during the UNC game a shot of him on the sidelines doing nothing. I was yelling so much at the screen to make some adjustments, do SOMETHING, ANYTHING. I know coaches don't like to divulge much during media availability and provide mainly coach-speak, but this guy gave new meaning to the word "generic". He was popping off on social media about nabbing DeMario Tolan when everyone knows **** well that he probably had like 2% to do with that commit. He was also the LB coach and the unit became a joke. Which leads me to the next guy...
2) Jon Patke / Water Boy / 2016 - 2021
Everything I said about Baker, you can pump the volume to 11 for this @$#%&^. If you saw his interviews you'd think he might be a robot. You can tell he looks at Diaz as some sort of coaching deity for giving him a chance. This guy should be a GA at best, not in charge of TWO of our units. This LB room might be the single worst unit of the last 15 years. (well maybe QB's under Enos or OL with Barry). Cannot recruit or develop whatsoever. I will be shocked if he ever rises above position coach at a mid-level P5 for the rest of his career.
1) Mark D'Onofrio / DC / 2011 - 2015
What can I say about good 'ol Mark. *)^!@*$^!)*@^$*)(!&@$#*(#&&&&#&#&*^!#*(^$(&#@^($&!%(&$%^&!%#$(&%!#(&$%(&!#%$^&(!#. Watching his bend but still break defense gave me the most health problems post-Coker. He has the most punchable face out of them all. Had a terrible couple of years as Houston's DC and has been out of coaching ever since.

I mean, look at the names I had to leave off for the honorable mention section: Manny Diaz, Paul Williams, Rumph (although he was a great player here and his units were solid for the most part), Searels, Jon Richt, Dan Enos, Butch Barry, Taylor Stubblefield etc. Whew, I feel a little better now.
You must be mistaken sir! Mark Onofrio had no D, he was here from 2011-2015.

If I remember correctly, he turned us down a couple of times. But nevertheless, completely agree.

5) Paul Williams -- Like seriously, what did this guy even do?? He didn't coach or recruit... was he the coffee guy?? Basically an intern.
4) Jon Patke -- How he managed to survive all of Manny's "fixes" is truly incredible. Dude had 9 lives.
3) Patrick Nix -- The expectations were failed so miserably that his career basically ended. Might be the worst coach on the list but didn't last long enough to get the same hate.
2) Al Golden -- Nothing ever changed and after 4 years everyone had seen through the used car salesman pitch.
1) Mark D'Onofrio -- I really don't think this is debatable.

Honorable mentions to Dan Enos and Jon Richt. Enos like Nix, wasn't here for very long and also failed miserably. Little Richt was a mess, but honestly wasn't completely his fault. He should never have been put on staff in the first place.
Jon Right and Patke are 2 of the most perplexing hires in the modern history of CFB.

And the curb stomping of ND.

Now if we’re going Coordinators here’s my list

5. Paul Williams - Why? B/c he sucked as a coach, however, here’s the recruits he helped secure:
Artie B, JRock, JJ, Mike Jax, & RJ Mac.

4. Jon Richt - Why? B/c our QB room was a complete mess under him, and it was completely inexcusable for him to be allowed to put all his eggs in The Michael Johnson basket on the other side of the country!

3. Patrick Nix - If we thought Richt as play caller was archaic, Nix was prehistoric. The fact that his offense scored absolutely ZERO points against a 9-4 UVA team in our final game at the OB made me wanna fly to Miami to choke this dude out. Absolutely pathetic OC

2. Jon Patke - Why? It wasn’t bad enough that he was a horrible recruiter, it wasn’t bad enough that our LB play sucked under his watch, but the **** had our STs horrible too. How many KO or P returns have we allowed? How many blocked FGs? But, but, but the transfer K from FIU, and the almost 30 yr old Hedley, bro! Fck Patke.

1. No’D - Why? By far the worst coordinator we’ve had in the modern era. Soooo much talent that was abysmally wasted. Til this day I would fire on him if I seen him in person & do the time. I hate him sooooo much.

Patrick Nix was the perfect blend of underqualified, overconfident, and personal ******* to win this one for me.

You could call his plays as a drunk ******* from the WEZ from the nosebleeds and be incredibly accurate. He was a legit bum, thought his **** didn't stink, and had a ****ty attitude, too.

Fvck'em.

Manny wouldn’t be so high on the list for me if not for his dad and cronies handling the last few months the way they did.

Great points on this list.
