It will be interesting to see the list after spring practice/summer workouts
Losing 3-4 first round picks and this roster is friggin loaded

I see a ton of names that could easily break into these lists. The Josh Moores, the O’Conners (took a lot of heat in the natty against a freak of nature WR and he’s still very young), Upshaw, Lyle, Scroggins, Wiley etc

1. Toney
2. Mensah
3. Wilson
4. Moten
5. Fletcher
6. Lightfoot
7. Scott
8. Barkate
9. Fitzgerald
10. Frederique
11. Thornton
12. Okunlola
13. Toure
14. Poyser
15. Lucas
16. Pringle
17. D. Brown
18. O'Connor
19. Lowe
20. McCoy

HM. Lofton - could easily play himself into the top 15
HM. Cantwell - my expectations are sky high - Mauigoa freshman year type expectations
HM. Scroggins - played a lot as a freshman on the best DL of the last 5 years in CFB. Can't be too bad and won't be surprising.
I’d have Justin Scott slightly higher, but that is a very thoughtful list. Nice.

Just shows how deep our DL is. You have Wilson and Lightfoot ranked 4 and 5. Those cats would be 1 and 2 on 95% of college rosters

It’s a little bit of bias there admittedly

Wilson could be #1 who knows. I saw him a few times and it’s the SEC thing for me. The conference was **** this year. He didn’t wow me as much as I thought

But you put him with JT and Heatherman and it’s pretty exciting so I’m just a little hesitant there

I think Blount is Him though. Just a manchild that was making plays in big games despite being so young

I think Blount is good but I have him as the 5th best dl. Potentially 6th if Lowe pops.

Moten, Wilson, Lightfoot, Scott

He doesn’t have Blount on the list

Amazing how difficult this exercise is…finally
Blount should have been at 8. Had him on there at 6 and moved up Scott and Lightfoot and forgot to throw his name back on there.

Plug him in at 8 and shift everyone down 1.

I figured it was an oversight. I did it a few times myself I’m like “how did I forget ___ ?!”

Roster looks **** good can’t even find too much to worry about. No team is perfect but the depth is finally there

For whatever hit we take losing Bain/Mesidor/Scott/Thomas/Wes on defense... we replace it with a player as good or close to the same level and significantly more depth. I think that is our calling card next year.. the deeper rotation on the DL and at Corner. We took some lumps with Bain/Mesi playing too many snaps and worn out and the drop off of the 2nd unit.

You also won't see a situation like Antione as a true freshman covering Jeremiah Smith in the red zone. Antione will be ready and there's more talented young guys behind him with the same top 4 returning. Or the situation with Brown/OJ banged up and Lucas out the 1st half in the championship and having nothing to turn to.

We should be able to roll through bodies and save ourselves in the grind of the season and not rely on unproven guys in the playoffs that are only a few months cleared from ACL like Jaboree. We can roll him out in his 2nd year and fully healthy, Ewald will be ready, Waters is the most gifted/talented HS CB we've signed in at least a decade and high expectations for Jennings being a day 1 contributor ready to go with a high football IQ and frame that is ready.

Part of the excitement for me is the coaching as well. Retaining Heatherman, Lewis, the new DB coaches man that continuity there with a whole offseason this time? I’m pumped

I’ve been saying for a while I really would love to see Waters (and Dunnnigan) heavily in the nickel competition. I think he’s gunna be a stud

I agree with your point we MUST rotate far more than we have previously. I think we have to also accept that we have to deal with the short term drop off in play by rotating more guys in to gain the long-term benefit of end of season results when it matter most.

For playoffs we want as many players with experience that we can trust as possible. That only happens if we give guys chances earlier in the season.

Season shapes up better for that too. We didn't blow anyone out early in the year and you have to roll with your main guys against ND and UF anyway. FAMU or BCU and those teams aren't good reps for anyone and don't do much for us in the grand scheme..

Stanford and CMU are games with some talent that come before the heart of the schedule and should provide those opportunities. Same can be said for Wake and that's a great chance against an actual good team to get those reps.. plus on the road.. but I'm terrified to discount that game. Good team and good staff on a Friday night at their place. Should be able to blow them out and rotate but could also see it going the Louisville 2025 direction if we're not totally locked in and start slow.

I'm not sure we had many guys even in the conversation for more reps that didn't get some solid exposure this year. Everyone healthy and at the right physical level got their chance and got decent reps. Bucket 1 - Toney. Moore, Pringle, Fitz played a lot and started games. Bucket 2 - Scroggins, Gilbert, Upshaw, Simpson - part of the rotation. Antione was coming off an ACL and got in on the rotation when he was fully ready to go and caught up.

The entire OL was developmental and didn't play. SJ got reps in different situations but not really at C or G. Marcelin got STs reps but idk that he's fully there physically. He doesn't look it.

The only ones I bring into question that I expected to be in the 2nd bucket getting 5-10 snaps per game and didn't were Wiley (LB is different sometimes and I get it, but reps should have been there), Schott (TE can be different too but mainly injured and being a homesick crybaby allegedly), Buchanan (OL was the strength of the team and the position is tough for an 18 year old kid), and Ewald (maybe some lingering injury/soft tissue stuff going on?)

I think the 2026 class ends up with 1-2 starters (Cantwell and maybe 1 more i really don't know who) and probably 10+ in the reps/rotation conversation (Mueller, Charles, Stancil, Wingo, Parris, Ervin, Dunnigan, Waters, Portis, Wyman, Jennings, Nagle, Edwards, Sparks, Woodrow)

The ones I think truly need a year are Bacon/Pickett/Spafford - coming off injuries, Congdon/LaFayette/Redding/Briggs - need to add size/strength to play their positions, and then Sainteus/Chukwurah/Campbell/Coleman/Mallory/Busch/Evans need a year to develop and/or are just logjammed at their position with limited effective reps available. Some of them are coming from lower levels of HS football (Sainteus, Chuk), enrolling later (Busch), or playing different roles than they played in HS (Campbell). The logjammed positions for those listed there are DT, RB, QB, and WR.
