You only go down at the 1 if you are winning. Otherwise you always take the TD. Because if you are winning you can kneel and win. Never do you not take points if you are tied or down to save time.

Now that we won…can we just rewind to that TD. TAMU were out of TOs, should someone have told MT that if he gets the first yard to just go down in bounds around the 1? Three kneel downs and a chip shot FG.

For the record, I think what he did was fine, D was dominating and no one thought they’d be able to go 75 yds in about 1:40 to score. Just asking the question.

I’ve been hearing people say this but I vehemently disagree. First, our kicker had been **** all day and there’s no such thing as a “gimme” the way he looked. Second, points were at a premium all day so you don’t give up the sure thing for something that’s a maybe. I mean, I get the logic behind it but context is important here.
