Tom Herman (merged with Herman head coach candidate threads)

My god dude... are you under 14 years old or something? Most people that aren't plagued with absolute douchery learn by adulthood that name calling and straw arguments are tell tale signs of ignorance. I think we need a permission slip from your mom before you post again.

I mean... did you actually just quote Fordham's success in your coaching search? The school dude also has a losing record at?

Sorry Einstein (he was some smart dude that was born way before your time, sorry for the adult reference) but you provided zero context that matters... zero... Stoops is about as bad of a fit as you can get at Miami. Once you get thru all your excuses about how your actually not supposed to use his extremely poor records to judge him maybe you can provide some context on why you think he would be a good fit for Miami without explaining how he would have to change everything about his philosophies before he comes over? Or wait I guess he couldn't have decent offenses at Kentucky because its Kentucky.

I am adding a link to a permission slip for your mom. Please print this out and have you mom bring it anyone of the mods house the next time she is working.

Stoops the guy who coached 3 years at Miami, who recruited South Florida while at FSU and was a successful DC there would be a bad fit at Miami

You’re an idiot

Ok, Stoops, Freeze, and Clawson

What have any of them done, that Herman hasn’t?
Freeze is about 1 of two total coaches that have beaten Bama twice.....other would be Dabo.....had it not been for Freeze forgetting that eyeballs come on ur program when you're knocking off Bamas of the world, he might've been the coach at a school like A&M right now instead of Jimbo. Heck, wouldn't be surprised to see him on a short list of favorites for a team like LSU....why? because he doesn't have to pay for skrippers to convince kids to come to LSU, that school/boosters etc takes care of the recruiting part.

Stoops is the middle of the pack team in the mega conference that manages to annually be in bowl games. I would call him the 2021 version of Vandy's James Franklin......

Clawson is a poor man's version of Mark Stoops.....so why not hire Mark Stoops......give me Fruit Loops instead of Fruit Rings

We have our own problems , different but still a toxic *** job

On the administrative side, are the problems worse than indifference?

A strong coach can easily handle the culture issues. Mel Tucker is showing what you can do short term with castoffs from other programs.

Whoever comes in needs to clean house. We will keep enough guys to be ok in the Coastal, especially younger ones who haven’t been completely demoralized. I think some of the vets would respond well to real leadership though.

I still can’t get over what Richt did. Best football in 20 years until ego and health got the best of him. A LITTLE competence goes a long way in Miami.

Mark Stoops, Huge Freeze, and Dave Clawson, to name a few.

****, I’d take Mario over Herman. And I have my reservations about him, too.

if we announce the hiring of Hugh Frieze, we'd be on 3 year probation before the ink is dry on his contract.

Stoops is interesting and gets the culture at UM. Would have been promoted to DC in 2004 (instead of joining his brother at Arizona) if randy had been hired away to be head coach at UNLV when he interviewed for it.

Dave Clawson is a serious guy

Unless Manny Diaz somehow miraculously wins out and regains the locker room, we will be looking for a new HC soon.

Miami can't take a chance on a first-time HC again. Shannon and Diaz were first-time head coaches who have had some of the least success we have seen in Miami since the 70s. As bad as Golden was, he had HC experience and technically won the coastal one year. HC experience matters, and even more so in a must-win now city like Miami. Mark Richt is the closest we can say to bring us back, and I for one am forever grateful he ended that losing streak against FSU, gave us our first bowl win in forever, donated 1M of his own $ for an IPF, and that ND game that had me the most excited I have been in forever about Miami football. He is a gentleman and scholar.

It's been a long time since we have experienced good football in Miami. It's been miss hire after miss hire, and we are on the brink of another HC firing. We need someone who knows what they're are doing and brings some respect back that U we all know and love. A coaching option for me is Tom Herman, why?

Tom Hermans resume -

1 - He has a winning record with a .711 winning percentage. Miami since 06 has a record of 113-98.
2 - Since being a HC he has posted 5-0 in bowl games. Miami is 1-10 in their last 11 bowl games.
3 - He recruited two of the top 3 players ever to commit to UH. In UT he recruited two top 3 classes and a top 10 class. All this while being in a state that has the most P5 schools, and that is heavily recruited on a national level.
4 - He has identified and recruited some of the best CFB QBs in his time as an OC/HC.
5 - Won the AAC conference championship and took UT to their first conference title game since 09. Miami has been to the ACC championship once, and we have never won.
6 - Signature wins against multiple top 11 opponents including Oklahoma #3 twice, Louisville #3, Utah #11, FSU #9, and UGA #6. He also has a winning record against ranked opponents. Aside from ND and WV what other signature wins can we point to? I know we beat a ranked UVA team, but that's nothing to slide for.
7 - His offenses have consistently ranked in the top 30 as OC/HC.
8- Had the most players drafted in UT since 2015, and has developed talent everywhere he has gone.

His resume is very telling of a good coach, IMO.

He checks a lot of the boxes I imagine we would want as a coach. Is he a Nick Saban? No. There is only one Nick Saban. He is however one of the few realistic options that holds no buyouts with a clean record (Zach Smith BS aside) A competent coach with a winning record who can win the coastal on a consistent basis, and give us more games like ND 2017 to enjoy and talk about.

He failed because Texas is poisoned. He may fail here to cause we are poisoned up top.

Indifference is a lot better for a good coach than interference.

The most important thing for us is doing our due diligence vetting and interviewing these guys.

We need a good ad bad. Blake can’t be trusted to manage that process.

Blake has really bad people judgement and doesn't command the room during the hiring process. He's shown he is epically bad and gets fooled easily...he can't read people when it comes to hiring coaches.

He also won all 4 bowl games @Texas something Manny will never do

I'm not the one crying like a little girl about the number of threads being created about the same topic. Ahem, you are the aforementioned girl.
Oh no, a pre school insult. You hurt my feelings now. I’ve gotten you triggered. I’ll stop now.

Only issue with Tom Herman is that he eventually alienated the boosters/fan base and some of the players because he's an *******. I don't normally mind ******** as long as they win. Also, his longest stint in a gig is 3 years. That would be my other concern. I know we all talk about how this program is a stepping stone for coaches and whatnot but i gotta think we need some stability considering we've had garbage coaches for the past 20 years.
This program is NOT a stepping stone for coaches. That died in 2002

Herman would do well here, imo
