Toledo Scares me...

Enjoy the stadium, it's probably the nicest one you'll play in. Also, hopefully you guys have a real good kicker. He's gonna need to be accurate out past 50 yards if you want points.

Best front 7 Toledo will face this year. Hard to throw the ball when QB is running for his life or laying on his back.
 
Get in touch with a rape counselor and set up a few sessions following the game. You're gonna need to learn how to cope with what you just saw your team go thru.

Toledo opens with Elon, @Nevada, and Tulsa. We should be 3-0, or 2-1 at worst.
Toledo has one of the nations leading returning passers. Woodside threw for 4,100+ yards, 45 TD's to 9 INT's and better than 69% completion %.

In 2015 Toledo was in the top 25 for 6 weeks, defeated #18 Arkansas on the road, and defeated #23 Temple in the Boca Raton Bowl.
In 2016 the Rockets had a soft schedule, put 53 on BYU one of the nations leading defenses, but gave up 55 in that game. The Rockets other losses came to 8-5 Ohio, 13-1 WMU, and 10-3 App State.

Arkansas fans said the same thing in 2015. Toledo has not been blown out by a P5 team since 2010 when we lost to a 9 win Arizona team 41-0. Every other P5 game was in reach at the start of the 4th quarter.

I don't need to troll though. Just wanted to see the thoughts of the board. I hope your team is every bit as non concerned as all of you.

The Massey Composite rankings had us 45th and Miami 31st to end the year in 2016. To open the year we are 52nd ahead of Virginia, Syracuse, Duke, BC, and Wake Forest your perennial ACC bottom feeders. Miami is pre ranked 16th for what it's worth! Enjoy your trip to Jonesboro in week 2.... I know we did :biggrin-new:

I'm not going to underestimate Toledo but honestly it's going to be very hard for them to win facing this defense. This defense should be top 5 or at least top 10 in the country. They will make life hard for that Toledo offense. The only way it's within 10 points is because of a hangover from a potential loss to F$U the week before. We've seen it before when this team loses to them, they go on a losing streaks to to even less talented teams. If Miami wins or gets over that loss quick, Toledo is in for a world of hurt for their offense. Can't really speak on our offense because I haven't seen the QB or OL yet. Our weapons on offense would destroy Toledo but the QB and OL may hold that back.

I won't break your balls, OP. Toledo's got a good MAC squad.

Unfortunately, that's not remotely close to good enough to beat Miami.

We had some App State guys come on here last season, one dude in particular got a little mouthy after they played Tennessee close. They thought they had a real shot, especially since we were travelling to Boone. We all saw how that one went. You guys are coming here. Even if your coach comes out with a top notch game plan, I have a hard time believing this one will be close for more than a quarter. I'm thinking of something around 42-17 with one of the Toledo scores coming in garbage time against Miami's second team defense. The talent gap IS that big. Even if Miami comes out sluggish, they'll eventually wear down the Rockets with wave after wave of talented depth.

Maybe, if Al Golden was still coaching, I'd give Toledo a shot but the one thing the current staff has proven is that they don't allow G5/mid major teams to stick around. I fully expect the Hurricanes to dispatch of Toledo and Arkansas State the same way they did FAU and App State last season.
 
How does the new coach compare to Matt Campbell?

A week after FSU, I could see a big-game hangover. For maybe a half or so.

JC, you guys are a brutal fanbase. Glad to know I'll be welcomed warmly when I'm down there with 5+ other Rocket diehards (but just because of the weather).

This. After that App. State game, it was like someone turned the lights on and all the ****roaches disappeared. Understand this, Toledo guy, we get this crap every **** year from some other fan base, often times more than one. Sorry if we're not super classy in response to your BS, but it grows a bit tired. Vaya con Dios, football fan. Your best bet is just to be polite and hope them boys don't decide to make an example out of your team.

Oh, and Ohio is a toilet.

It's the only NFL stadium we'll play in this season (unless we make it to Detroit for the MAC Championship)...so yeah, that makes sense. When are you guys getting your own stadium?
