I see people tossing these low win totals and as much as I can't stand Golden, you're setting the bar far too low. The schedule is ridiculously easy and when he surpasses those expectations, it's going to be ammunition for him keeping his job.

The only two losses I think happen for sure are Clemson and FSU. He'll probably have another two against whomever, but that's it.

Im not one of those lowball w/l guys as im expected 7-8 but schedule is nowhere as easy as people think. And chalking Clemson up as a sure loss is a mistake. Line will be close to a Pk.

Clemson- L arguably the best team in the ACC. Al isn't beating a more talented team, even if they have a history of shytting all over themselves in spots
@Duke- W. Canes get a chance to get out of Dodge and win one, temporarily stopping the hemmoragging. Although I wouldn't bet the rent money on it. Night/Halloween game away, I believe, Canes could get spooked on a last second field goal.
UVA. L No comment. The Fly the Banner boys are in full voice
@NC. L Al is just lousy on the road. Dead.team walking.
GT. L No one at Sun Life. Mailing it in.
@Pitt. L Pitt shyts on Al. Blake James points to the adversity the team has faced all year, blah.

I would like like nothing better than to be wrong, being an alum and following this team since the mid 70's. Admittedly I'm low balling, but I don't see Al getting over 6 wins. Not enough changes to make any real difference. We shall see.

you are giving Golden too much credit if you think he can beat duke on the road. fau is a toss up also.

Really? we win 3/4 of the bottom games. We will beat Nebraska, too. That game has revenge OSU game written all over it!!
 
I can't believe the number of people picking us to lose to Nebraska. New head coach, road game for them, no Ameer, and good talent not returning for them. Oh I know we have Golden!! We win that game...........watch for it.
 
We're going to be significantly better, but it won't necessarily show in the W/L record. We'll be better at the end of the year than we were at the beginning even though we'll probably lose most of our games in the latter part of the season.

In a few years, we'll probably be the best team in the country but will only win 1 game or 2.
 
To the OP, fair question.
I happen to agree with most of the people on this thread, 5-7 IMO and I would use out coached in all our losses.
Do you think we do better?
Going on 0-5 vs FSU should be enough to get any UM coach fired

Nebraska is losing 3 players per day. They'll be lucky to field a team. They might win 3 games this year. On top of all that, they don't even have the type of QB that Riley needs to run his offense.

There are only two teams on the schedule with more talent than miami. but that has never stopped this coaching staff from losing games before. It should be assumed we will lose to all teams with more talent, and then it should be assumed we will go .500 in all other games. That is how you get to 5-7. There is no game by game break down necessary. This is what Al Golden is as a coach, a guy who can't beat better teams, and a guy who is a career .500 type leader.
 
If Brewer is still the QB for VT they won't beat the Canes. When Canes whooped VT *** they were so worried about their sorry QB throwing the ball down the field they only allowed short side to side passes. He is no threat to run and if he did he is slow. Tech will have problems scoring points and they still have no elite backs. Fosters best defense is when they stop the run and they still are small on defense this year.

The Hokies beat the Canes with a QB that couldn't throw the ball into the ocean while standing on the beach at high tide.
 
Everyone is fooling themselves thinking we're going to be better than expected because expectations are so f.cuking low.

Did Brewer beat us last year? Did Tech win that game in Blacksburg last year? Which defense was shredded by the running game? Not only did Duke run wild but so did Yearby and Gus. Which Hokie back impressed you? What WR scared you for the Hokies? Maybe the taste of Frank B *** has deluded your thinking.

If I recall VT was playing without a ton of starters in that game
 
We'll be significant favorites over Bethune and FAU, and significant underdogs to Clemson and FSU. The rest of the schedule are toss ups, at best. 5-7 wins.

VT , FSU, Clemson, GT, And UVA are all reasonably up in the air.

The consensus by the media and even our board is that we actually have a hard schedule not a "ridiculously easy" one like you state. I think we go 8-4 though strictly off of talent and kaaya's arm, saving goldens job.

Now what I wish would happen.. I think if we lose five he needs to be gone 100%, if he loses 3 or 4 then No Dnofrio needs to be gone.

We haven't beaten FSU since 09. Unless we win coastal or better..if he loses to FSU I say let him go
