The 2000 team lost a game they had no business losing. Butch did that throughout his tenure with Miami, and UNC..Even looking back in retrospect. Saban has been at Bama for 10 years..you can count on 1 hand the games that he’s lost that he had no business losing..idk if definitely that 2000 coached Miami team would beat what Saban had last year and dabo have today..or Dabo when he had deshaun..those teams have the advantage at QB without a doubt..but overall that 2000-2002 was the best talent accumulation in the modern day..except at QB. Dorsey was a great leader but nowhere in the same sentence as Tua, Lawrence or deshaun

These are people who saw Butch’s Miami teams in 2000 and 2001 and who rightly realize that those teams were better than any team Dabo or Saban have ever fielded

I watched those teams too. It was a great time when Miami still have the advantage of recruiting South Florida before the internet and cellphones made access easier for everybody. Still wouldn't trade Dabo or Saban for Butch. They've built dynasty's that lasted and are continuing to last. 8 Championships between the two while Butch has zero. Fact is Butch chose to look for the better deal meanwhile Dabo stayed planted at a middle of the pack ACC school and turned it into a monster. Those two coaches will be hall of famers while Butch will be an interview on a 30 for 30 that peiple forget about. When Saban returned to college it's because Alabama was calling. When Butch returned to college the best he could do was UNC.

I think that hypothetical game would be close and could go either way. But usually the team with the better QB wins

It's too early to call Clemson a dynasty. Maybe they'll get there, but not yet. Dabo is basically Jimbo Fisher right now.

Alabama is a dynasty, no doubt. Nick Saban is one of the greatest college football coaches ever to live. Probably better than Bear Bryant.

If the BOT would have hired Butch Davis back when they hired Randy Shannon or Al Golden, UM would have another championship by now. He already proved that he was good enough to build one here.

Today, Butch Davis, like Nick Saban, is old and his best is probably behind him. It's too bad our BOT let their incompetence, stinginess, and pride cost the university a chance at greatness.
