Times are changing!

I`ve been a Cane fan all of my life. I remember Mira SR. touchdown pass against FSU to win 7-6, I think in 62. I just don`t understand the fan of today! Good or bad ( and it was mostly bad.) we enjoyed the Canes, even if they lost. Today, following a loss, people in here go nuts. I know to loose to FIU was nightmarish! I even stayed out of the room for a week. I won`t even talk about recruiting. I do remember when we stood on top of the collegiate football world. OK time for me to get off the soapbox.

CANES
You're going to have that in today's society. Most of the 'kids' out there cant handle this kind of ****. As a matter of fact they think they can change everything by acting like complete idiots and making themselves look like total morons, embarrassing themselves, for everyone to see. Oh and to top it all off they have multiple social forums to do these stupid things in, where all of the other mindless, thoughtless, half-wits out there can follow and express their 'beliefs'.

When fans think they can 'run' a college football program by flying banners, posting billboards, and sending messages to coaches/recruits/administrators....and literally BELIEVE that this is what will fix the problem(s), you know that we are already in too deep and we might as well learn to enjoy what we have, because there is absolutely NOW WAY in **** that our program will ever change for the better with things like this going on.

i sort of understand what you're saying, but when there are articles written, and emails sent and banners flown, it shows the powers that be that fans are not turning a blind eye to a neglected, ****** product. whether or not that really, truly does any good who knows? but i believe it's better than continuing to buy tickets, show up, and just b*tch and moan and do nothing. i believe it had something to do with golden getting canned after getting raped by clemson, and had something to do with richt feeling the pressure and stepping down.

we are fans, we do what little we can to try and better things. we drive the ticket sales and asses in the seats. if we do nothing, nothing will get done.

Yeah, "a changing" for nearly 2 decades.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Yeah that's why fans show up at EVERY GAME and support the program....and since so many people like to talk abouy Clemson and it's success under Dabo...their fans were always there if they were a ****** team or not. The only time you ever heard Tiger fans acting outrageous is when they lost to USC. But not after every single loss under a first year HC with a newbie staff.

hey man listen i was there in the mid 90's on probation, sitting there in a rain vs. rutgers i get that. but there comes a time where enough is enough. we spend our money on them, and when they demonstrate year after year they don't want to invest the effort and expertise in their product, that tells me i don't want to spend my money anymore on them. it's a personal preference. i dont have anymore interest in spending half my saturday driving to that stadium to be bored and subsequently annoyed when the team looks like sh*t. this is the apathy that sets in when the powers that be do not invest in their product.

So you got so used to losing that you kind of relished it back in the day, like watching the Atlanta Brave in the 1970's. If you never had air conditioning you would learn to endure that as well, doesn't mean that someone has a better plan to not lose versus your infatuation with losing.

You sit in the middle of a talent pool overflowing so that the entire country drinks from that pool, except of course the people guiding the program for the past 20 years. The geniuses in our alma mater have steadily tried to keep us from drinking from that same pool either by instituting rules on academics that others do not follow or handicapping the process by hiring inferior coaches and re-signing them to extensions right after losses usually. If they found gold on the UM campus the administration would probably outlaw gold mining! The talent is here and we have done everything we could to destroy instead of cultivate that natural resource in our own backyard. They run a guy like Butch Davis out of here because of their same idiotic rules they follow, like uneven buyout clauses and then arrogantly pass him over for coaches with zero experience, punishing the kids and this program with that arrogance, it is sickening.

Don't worry old man, you will get your happy days of the George Mira Sr. days back and you can proudly stretch your legs out across three aisles in the empty stadium. I was around during the George Mira Jr days when we won, our players and coaches were arrogant ******** but we freaking won! I will take those days versus the nostalgic lovable loser days, anytime! Problem is you have to work hard and smart to win, anyone can lose.

you sound like an enabling surper.

the point of sports is to win. if you arent in it to win, what is the point of watching? the ENTIRE point of being a sports fan is to see your team win.

"A person who is supportive of and enthusiastic about a sports team only when that team is performing well."

Many don't recall that Miami was an afterthought before that improbable NC in 1983. I saw many games in the 60's and 70's. From 1937 to that first NC, Miami was nothing more than a blip on the radar. And lest we forget that the university legitimately considered dropping football all together - much like they did BB. Sure we had a few great players through the years - Otto, Hendricks, Foreman, just to name a few - but for the most part, Miami was more like an FBS team than the improbable powerhouse we became in the 80's and 90's.

This is what people who insist that we’ll be back because Alabama and OU had down periods don’t understand. Some idiots on here seriously think we’re some kind of big historic name like those programs.
