OK, back from the game and just had a pow-wow with the world famous Austin P and yeah, like Ed Reed once said famously,"Im hurt dawg'
Not gonna rehash too much of the game(it's too painful and well, being at the game it's hard to get a lot of the details Im sure many of you have touched upon.)
But with that said, Malik Rosier reared his ugly head again(in terms of play), he's not good. In fact, he's bad. And its not getting any better and his play is actually demoralizing to the offense(the body language and gestures I saw from the WR's tonight was very telling) and the fan-base. Yeah he put up some good numbers last year but most of them vs bad teams and lets face it, offensive stats nowadays are inflated across the board. Too many games he's right around(or below) 50-percent completion percentage. Perhaps some of it could be laid on the play calling and system but some of that has to do with a scatterarm thrower
The schedule now gets very soft, it's time for Richt to get someone warmed up in the pen and begin the process of developing his next QB - because Rosier ain't it and quite frankly, it would be a wasted year for this program. Yeah, I'll live through mistakes as long as there is an upside on the horizon. Rosier reached his ceiling last November and has come crashing back down to reality. Sorry, for those of you who cape up for him its time to face the harsh truth, he's inaccurate, late with passes, lacks a feel for the game and gives his receivers no chance for YAC
He completely restricts what this offense can do, however, if Richt stick with him - well, that's on him. I see way too much talent on this side of the ball to have these types of long, unproductive stretches. The Oline still isn't a great run blocking unit, no doubt, but it has enough pieces to be very good from the spread sets - except you need a QB that can consistently make routine throws.
That ain't Rosier.
I've seen enough, I don't want to see any more.
- Loved what I saw from Jeff Thomas. Imagine him with a good QB how lethal he would be. Brian Hightower flashed and Brevin Jordan was open for a couple of big plays but Rosier was Rosier
- Defensively, yeah, Manny Diaz is questionable to me. His unit's production doesn't match his rhetoric and Ive notice that slants and square ins(goig back to last years UVA game) have really hurt Miami on 3rd downs
- Al Blades looked good out there, looked very promisig
- Kicking game is a huge question mark. Jeff Feagles is feeble, a flat out liability
- Anyhooo, great to see all the Canes fans out there this past weekend. What looked to be such a promising season now looks very tenuous to me Yeah, Im that concerned with the QB situation.
- oh and one other thing, the most frustrating part of the game( for me at least) was the end of the 1st half, you have LSU pinned deep and 4th down punting near their own endzone and twice you can just let them boot the ball and get your offense the ball back. Literally, all you have to do is just let them snap it, kick it and just stand there and watch for the fake - and instead, you get flagged twice and they get to run out the clock
C'mon Hartley, that's on you to explain to them situational football. That was mind-boggling to me
