Time to cross Cook off the list...Permanently

I'm a big Yearby fan, but Cook is on another level. You guys are kidding yourselves if you think Yearby is a better prospect.

Seen em both live. Cook can't run between the tackles hard like Yearby and Cook doesn't have great vision or feet either.

Cook is the better "athlete"
Yearby is the better "RB"

And that is what I see in the film too. Cook is blazing fast who just takes a corner and is gone, or finds a hole and blows past everyone. Yearby actually cuts, weaves, shifts direction, gears, etc. He doesnt have the speed, but he makes guys miss to grind out yards.

This is pretty accurate. Cook's ceiling is higher though.

I'd gladly take cook! The kid is ridiculous at all 3 phases, but I'd take Yearby all day as well.

This argument has been going on for way to long. Ppl just can't grasp the fact that they are 2 completely different players with different games. Neither is a slouch and both are very very talented at what they do athletically.

Yearby is cane and cook ain't
Yearby > Cook #easy

LMAO, and that's exactly what I said. They are different types of prospects. And got blasted for it.

I've seen them both live several times as well. The big thing people always miss from this discussion is strength. Cook is the stronger runner physically and breaks more tackles. When you add that to his acceleration and athletic ability, it makes him the more dangerous runner. Yearby has better vision and feet, but Cook also has very good vision and feet.

Yearby has impressed me this year with his improved speed. I've underrated him in the past by focusing on his flaws. The improved speed is important, because he doesn't have a frame to get much bigger.

I love Yearby. His feet and vision are maybe the best in the country this year.

And yes I think Cook is making a huge mistake going to UF. I think the Bull Gators got to him. But don't get it twisted, he is lightning in a bottle. He can cut, accelerate and move like few others. I want him badly in this class but it's his mistake to make.

Just don't pretend like he isn't that good. Cat is a freak.

We will get ours.

You guys need to let this die. This is getting silly. All the comparisons are getting old. All the articles of him doing interviews are getting old. Let him go. I dont even know why I opened the thread. He doesnt want to be here. Let him go to UF and try to chase the "Percy Harvin" dream like all the RBs have that came after him. Or USC where they have been tellin kids "We are gonna use u like we used Reggie Bush" since 06' and have yet to come close.

If he thinks their recruiting class will be the one to put "Gainesville back on the map"..Good luck chasing that dream. I love the ole' "I am recruiting guys to come follow me and bring it back" talk. LOL. Does he not think kids watch TV? They see what is going on. They see the tide is turning and that UF is not looking up. After FSU hangs 50 on them, the jigg us up.

BTW, if I were him I would just speak for myself. I really think Mr. Ermon Lane is up in the air as far as his decision. Wouldnt be surprised if he was having second thoughts. JMO.

cook might be a freak at what he does but we need a running back to replace duke and yearby is the perfect guy for that.

NO ONE has said Cook is not good. Pretty sure most have agreed we would love to have him, but its clear from most objective observers, that they have different attributes. My biggest concern with Yearby is his size. But he has really good moves for a RB, which I think helps him compensate for lack of elite breakaway speed. From most of what I have seen of Cook, his best attribute is his speed. And he does have better size than Yearby.

I think Yearby has eyes in the back of his head the way he moves. Dude cuts dimes with his moves.

Agreed, he's incredibly shifty and has great "quickness", not SPEED per se, but he's very quick running in traffic. He can cut, shift gears, and direction very quickly, those kinds of attributes can help you be a productive RB at the next level even if you dont have home run speed. THose are the RBs who consistently get you those 4-7 yard runs to move the chains and wear down a defense because they are hard to tackle. He's not going to be breaking a lot of big runs, but I still think he can be a very good RB.

Of course we would love to have Cook to complement Yearby. The homerun threat speedster to Yearby's steady productivity. But both guys bring something to the table on their own, they are not the same kind of runner/prospect.

You guys should know this already: cook has been bought. When has UiF ever come down central and grab arguably their top prospect? Ill leave the details out, but the gata bought his ***. That and the fact he doesn't want to be with Yearby anymore. Unless something wild happens .. He ain't comin.

this is what I've thought since he committed to Clemp$on. U*** out bid Clemp$on

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young said it best: "If you cant be with the one you love, love the one you're with."

do do, doot do, doot do, doot do, da doot. :)

A couple things guys. Firstly, I have not seen either Cook or Yearby play, but the arguments for and against both reminds me of the age-old QB discussion: would you prefer the QB who can throw the ball 70 yards from his butt but can't read a defense nor has any pocket presence with the hope of developing those skills (JaMarcus Russell) or would you prefer the QB with ok measureables, refined QB skills, and can be relied upon to make the RIGHT decision (Russell Wilson). I'm not saying Cook will end up like Russell (although he's not off to a good start by picking UFug) and his upside, much like Russell's, may be off the charts, but when the speed and athletic disparity is lessened (as it will be in college), what else do you bring to the table? We know Yearby has something else to bring (vision, cut back ability, etc.), we don't know that with Cook. With that said, I'll take a healthy dose of both.

I am totally OK with this. We have a tremendously talented group of stud recruits who all actually WANT to be here and be part of what will become a championship contender, can't say that with a straight face up where Cook is going.
