Not impressive numbers at all. But the kid can sure play.

Gotta realize that most kids do not know how to properly run the 40. The get off is the most important part and most kids are not coached up on it. I take the 4.6 with a grain of salt. He probably is a 4.5 type guy... Which is great! The kid can play regardless and would most definitely be an asset to our squad.
 
4.6 for a 17 year old is fast. Don't let these inflated numbers that schools and players post fool you. Go look up the times from the combine this year for safeties. Lots of guys 4.5 and 4.6

Gotta consider they are getting 40 specific training at that point too. Kid plays plenty fast.

Safeties dont have to be 4.4-4.5 speed a 4.6 is prototypical of a safety. Seems like He is all Cane right now, we need that signature commit and all the chips will fall into place. Jaquan Johnson and Tim Irvin at safety is scary. thats the reason i believe we are recruiting SBB as a receiver which may hurt us in the end.

This. I love when people claim they rip off 4.3s, go to the combine and have 4.5s (which is fast anyway).

There are some NFL prospects at wr and safety that dont run 4.6s so that tells you HS kids are freaks who do that and the crazy thing is he's going to actually be taught ho wto run a 40 the right way the older he gets
 
I think we're recruiting all of them at whatever position they want to play. Irvin, JJ, SBB, Ridley, Cole... just get em here. Plenty of room on this roster for playmakers.
 
holds offers from UM, Alabama, L$U, O$U...don't really care what his 40 is as long as its sub 4.75 lol...he's still a young'n and his time will improve as his technique does. This kid is an absolute stud football player he will probably top out at a 40 in the high 4.5s which is more than sufficient. I'd rather have a kid with his football IQ and pedigree who needs to shave a few tenths off his times than a kid with a bunch of talent and not a clue.

I love that the staff is telling him he could be the Duke of this class. Everything you read on Irvin screams leader...he comes off in interviews as a kid that knows he has to put in work and will fight for everything he gets...these are the type of kids that can really build a program. Guys that don't come in expecting anything but competition and hard work. It's a shame that so many kids in south florida act so entitled these days. There was a time when the 305 was a breeding ground for guys walking around with chips on their shoulders, now when you see or hear about one it really stands out.

my favorite recruit this cycle, hands down.

40 times dont mean much. Quan Johnson ran a 5.0 twice. Anybody want to change their mind on him? I dont think so.
 
I think Mike Irvin will be in Tim's ear a whhhhhhhole bunch. We get Irvin and Johnson, we reel in everyone else, bet on it.
