Tight end coach will be

I don't get why people can't comprehend that Jon Richt is an offensive asistant

Folks lacking comprehension skills. All this means is that we are going to hire a QB coach and WR coach. One will be the other Co-OC

I think people comprehend that.

What's not clear is if he is 1 of 2 Grad Assistants, or 1 of 9 full staff members, IMO.

He will probably be quality control....not one of the on field coaches

I've never seen an announcement for a QC. But maybe it's because he's Richt's son ...

We aren't hiring a 3rd guy to coach QB. Richt and Jr will share the job. Jr didn't get the title becaus he will also assist other position. I would expect the WR coach to be the co-OC. I would think we have some money left in our 3 million dollar ASST budget. My guess is Larry Scott turned it down so they are still looking.

We aren't. The QB coach will be the 2nd and in charge of the passing game. Jon Richt will be QC dealing with all aspects of the offense

Dorsey I would say will stay in Carolina he would be next in line for OC if Shula gets HC job which he will be interviewing for after playoffs or would be brought along with Shula

Willing to lay down a nice size bet that Dorsey will be QB Coach/CO-OC.

That'd be such a selfish move by Kenny. If there's potential for you to get a real NFL OC job or to take a co-OC non-playcalling job at your alma mater then the choice is clear. You bring your skinny *** back to Coral Gables....and don't expect a pay raise from what you were making in Carolina either.

With that said, it might be a longshot that Shula goes anywhere. The Dolphins supposedly have no plans to interview him and now you have Sean Payton available to be had along with Mike Shanahan and the Chipster both wanting back in. Hue Jackson would probably get more interest for someone looking to promote an OC as well.

I fully comprehend that he's an offensive assistant. Me speak English good.

But they haven't announced what "offensive assistant" entails.
Is it a QC or GA position? Is it an off-field ops spot? Is it actual on-field coaching that counts as part of the allowed 9 assistants?
No one (on here) knows yet.

I don't understand why you're all jumping to that conclusion and assuming Richt wont count as a coach. Remember when Hartley was named Special Teams coach and just now realeased that he's now also TE coach? Same thing could happen to Richt Jr. Announced him as offensive assistant but knew he'd end up coaching a position just unsure of which.

I predict the Richts will coach QB but Jr will officially be QB coach. Last hire will be a WR/Co-OC.

I think it's pretty clear that Richt will "help out" with QBs. Not necessarily a QBC, but between him and his father, I think they have the QB position covered, no? I suppose it's possible to hire another co-OC/QBC

Called this a couple days ago. Did good work with Hoskins(played a year with Dolphins) and Frohnapfel/Yurachek at Marshall. Also must mean little Richt is officially on staff.

I'm starting to think Lil Richt will be an official coach and count against the 9. He will probably be coaching QB's. If thats the case, we have 1 spot left to fill. WR coach or possibly CO-OC/WR.

CO-OC/RB- Thomas Brown
CO-OC/WR - ???
QB - Jon Richt
TE - Todd Hartley
OL - Stacy Searles

DC/LB - Manny Diaz
DL - Coach Kool
CB - Mike Rumph
S - Ephraim Banda

S&C?

I really thought Jon Richt was going to be the QB coach. I'm still confused as to his role, and whether his position counts against the 9 coaches.

Romberg said he's just there to learn the ropes. He wasn't much w the bills either.

They're like a ga but paid essentially from what Romberg said.

Sounds to me like Lil Richt doesn't count against our coaches -- because he's an "assistant" and will provide support to a coach but not actually coach himself. That's my interpretation from the press release, at least.

Leaving us with two spots for some combination of: WR/QB/LB/Co-OC/Recruiting Coordinator.

And get me a S&C coach already, dammit!

I'm almost certain Richt Jr will be one of the 9 coaches. He was probably given the nebulous "offensive assistant" title because, at the time he was announced, and even now, it's uncertain who the last offensive hire will be.

If we hire a guy with QB coaching experience with the 9th spot, Richt Jr will spend more time with receivers. If we hire a WR coach Richt Jr will spend most time with QBs. Probably the same reason Hartley just now revealed he will coach TEs.

We have a few guys who could fill a couple different spots depending on how Richt uses that 9th spot.

You've got to at least hope that the last offensive hire(s) are going to be big and that's why he's saving them for last.
NFL guys?

This Hartley character looks like the kind of scumbag every program needs. :D

Haha. He does have a weaslish/punchable face type of an appearance. Throw that in with some time at Marshall and we may indeed have our resident scumbag on staff. I'm cool with that.
