Tight end coach will be

I could see Richt bringing in a QB coach. He can still oversee the position, similar to Saban.

I think it would be a little strange if Richt were the official QB coach, because he wouldn't be able to float around as much during practice.

I really thought Jon Richt was going to be the QB coach. I'm still confused as to his role, and whether his position counts against the 9 coaches.

That's what a few of us expected. He wasn't only going to coach STs.

If Richt Jr. is a coach is there still an open spot?

If there is still one slot, Richt is holding onto that co-OC gig for someone relatively special would be my guess. Maybe he can use it to lure a gem/up and comer.

If Richt Jr isn't an actual coach we had 2 spots before this announcement with TE and WR coaches needed and possibly LBs (unless Diaz is going to coach them and they just haven't announced it). This would still leave us 2 if Richt Jr isn't a coach. If he is a coach it leaves us 1 which would mean Diaz is coaching LBs for sure and we just need a WR coach. Just not sure Richt Jr actual coach status. I would think if we was going to be QB coach that would have been how they announced it and not Offensive Assistant. So maybe he won't be a coach which means we still have WR and maybe LB.

You would think if he was going to be QB coach that is how they would have announced but definitely leaves a lot up in the air in terms of how many coaching spots we still have available. Richt could make Jr just a grad assistant that works with QBs.

I'm starting to think Lil Richt will be an official coach and count against the 9. He will probably be coaching QB's. If thats the case, we have 1 spot left to fill. WR coach or possibly CO-OC/WR.

CO-OC/RB- Thomas Brown
CO-OC/WR - ???
QB - Jon Richt
TE - Todd Hartley
OL - Stacy Searles

DC/LB - Manny Diaz
DL - Coach Kool
CB - Mike Rumph
S - Ephraim Banda

That's why I said, "thought." Now, I'm just confused.

When Hartley was announced it was for Special Teams Coord. It's just now coming out that he will be coaching TE/ST.

That would indicate the WR won't be a co-OC ...

I can't imagine we offered Larry Scott the co-OC role, and he decided against it. Or that we interviewed Keving Beard for a Co-OC role.

Wonder if he is going to make Jr the co-OC/QB and retain Beard? I just don't see that making sense. Seeing as he has said all along that there are a bunch of people that want to coach here.

Willing to lay down a nice size bet that Dorsey will be QB Coach/CO-OC. Or Weinke, as stated in your original response

That wouldn't be a bad hire ...

Question is; Does that make J. Richt the WR coach or a GA?

Jon Richt will have an Offensive Quality Control or Player Development title.

We will hire a QB coach and a WR coach.

Either one can be CO-OC.

Ken Dorsey and Chris Weinke are possibilities.

There could be scenario in which Richt calls the plays until he becomes confirtable with either of those guys and then turns the reins over.

Dorsey I would say will stay in Carolina he would be next in line for OC if Shula gets HC job which he will be interviewing for after playoffs or would be brought along with Shula
