Greg Schiano is 4th of the 4 candidates on my list from the guys we've interviewed. Trying to find the positive in each candidate as none of the candidates are perfect. Schiano brings the biggest 180 from Al Golden out of the candidates and that alone makes him attractive. He is tough, he screams and yells and demands from his players. One thing you have to consider is what are the needs of the program and the soft, cushy, participation trophy, winning is nice culture is the first thing that has to be fixed. With his style, he'd likely be able to fix that mess the fastest but it is risky as there would be a lot of turnover with the culture change. Where the biggest concern with Schiano is would be his ability to continue to elevate the program. Point being is, he could be a good quick fix for a couple years but would he be able to keep it going? That is yet to be seen but my gut it telling me no.

i am warming up to him after reading that SI article he has made a concerted effort to improve upon his shortcomings. he has done a lot to prepare for his next gig. i think he might be able to take this program further than richt but both would be good choices in my book.

Not in league w Richt Butch Mullen

But Strong Mario Coker Shannon not in Schiano's league

We could do worse but should do much better

I'm fine with college Schiano. Pro schiano didn't work. Really liked the fact that he has used his time to fine tune his mistakes.

Not my first choice but the positives as I see them:

1. He was probably my favorite coordinator we had. Players made dramatic improvement from year to year in the two years he was here. Some may credit Butch for this which is certainly part of it but the defense was a dumpster fire in the UCLA and Syracuse games at the end of the season before GS showed up.

2. I know everyone scoffs at Rutgers but he made that a legitimate football school that is now in the Big 10

3. Pro coaching experience

4. Still relatively young.

Agree and he would bring a great staff, can recruit and is an X and O. the fact that he sought to be a better coach during the last few years and spend considerable time with Belichek and JJ speaks volumes. i think he is a homerun

Dont want at all. When not w single player on your team likes you it means you're just not a good coach

This is my thinking as well. I think the Schiano now is an entierly different person than was at RU and TB. Just read the articles on him. I think he'd come back with a great college enthusiasm.
