thoughts on lyle and jojo

Look at our first drive of the fourth quarter when Lyle was in there. Lyle presents two issues that you don’t really have with Brown and Fletcher. The first issue is that lyle dances rather than gain a full head of steam into the hole and gain 3-4 yards. And because he dances around, I think that kind of play is more likely to invite a holding call than a Fletcher/Brown type of front. That’s what killed that first drive. That’s my theory anyway.

I think we NEED to play Lyle a lot. We’ve been bruising teams with Brown and Fletch and they need help

But my issue with Mario and Dawson (or whoever is involved) isn’t splitting carries, it’s WHEN they do it is maddening to me

Agree. As for playing Lyle, I am sure the coaches thought, well we have a 25 point lead, we are rolling, let’s put Lyle in there to get him some carries in a low risk situation. So if not on that series, when would you have played Lyle? When the game was closer?
 
Don’t expect JoJo to be here next year. As of right now, he’s nothing more than Lofton as a greentree all-American. Lofton has actually played though. Lyle had no business getting as many snaps as he did last night. It should be Fletchers backfield with Brown being the backup.

Good question. I know 28-3 probably felt like the game was over. With us getting the ball back I’d just like to see our best out there and make it 35-3 but maybe I’m greedy.

Also to be fair Lyle is capable of breaking their backs with one big run as well

I was ready to meet people at Titanic last year when they would point to the amount of carries our backs had as justifying it all

It constantly felt predetermined to me which just can’t be a thing in big games

I think it’s pretty well known Lyle has demanded playing time as well

Fair but UF game was a monsoon so throw that game out. Agree we could use a reliable WR3 but coming into the year everyone thought we needed Jojo to be a WR1 or we'd suck. Nope, CJ and Toney are studs and 5-0 thru toughest part of the schedule. If light comes on for Jojo great, i'll be thrilled but we can run the table w/o him

You’re dead wrong on this and clearly you haven’t been watching the Guy play or know anything about what he brings to the field. He’s the only one of the starting three that can truly take the top off the defense with elite speed. And he’s also a powerful break the tackle yac guy as well. Oh, and let’s not forget he’s blocking like an animal out there. So with what I’ve seen, JoJo has shown nothing to pass that guy up. Either your bought in and doing the work in practice or get ready to sit the bench.

I think he plays against Louisville. And you’re right. It’s up to him to make plays when he gets a chance. If he does, then his playing time will continue to grow. Kind of has to earn his playing time.

Idk.. It seems to be a character issue or something, which I would have never saw coming. They gave him chances vs ND and nothing since. Hopefully he gets it together and we can ride out with him baby jesus and daniels
