Thoughts on 1st year

I can honestly say we should have beaten every team on our schedule by at least a touchdown. No bllsht. We can see that the staff hasn't been playing the best players....Lewis retuning kicks...OL looking better with new faces. It took too long to adjust offensively, period.

Richt has underachieved and this season is another disappointing one.

Miami football stays irrelevant.

Not sure how anyone can argue with this post given that 4 game abomination that Richt's play calling cost us. ND, FSU and UNC at home were all games we should have won. I'll give a pass on the VT game since it was a night game on the road on a short week...but even in that game the play calling gave us no shot to even be competitive.

If he wins out and wins the bowl game and improves the offense.....then maybe we can talk. The fact is he wet the bed during that 4 game stretch and a year in which we SHOULD be in the running for the Coastal...we have no shot.

The jury is still out on Richt, especially as a play caller. I'd be a lot less critical if he didn't insist on calling his own plays.

From the defensive perspective, Diaz has been a God-send. Give the man a raise and keep him here long term. Guy has defined "doing more with less".

Could be better but this year is a significant improvement over last year. I can't be happy after that four game losing streak against teams that weren't really any better but I'm not totally ****ed. I wanted to see improvement and they're overall better than they were. I wanted to see them hang in after a tough loss and they've managed to right the ship after the losing streak. They should be able to win out. A bowl game victory would certainly help going forward too.

I'll reserve full judgment until this season is over. If we continue to show strong, win a bowl game and finish 9-4, maybe I will believe the middle four games were a first year hiccup or something; but that won't change the fact we held FSU and UNC to 20 and 13, respectively, and ND proved to be hot garbage and we still went 0-4. It really is inexcusable. VT was a buzz saw, we limped in there on a short week, hung tough but didn't get it done. OK, fine, but the other 3? If you had shown me the defensive point totals I'd have assumed smoked FSU and UNC.

If you went into this season thinking a team that fired its coach mid season last year and based on 2015s performance had a mediocre run game , mediocre qb, and a mediocre OL was supposed to win the ACC Coastal then you have quite the imagination. Looks like you bought into the Kaaya preseason draft hype. The Vegas experts who actually have hundreds of millions of dollars riding on accurate assessments saw a 6-6 team. Many of you apparently saw a 10-2 team that wins the ACC Coastal. The defense generally played above expectations. If they had played exactly like the 2015 defense and the offense averages 5 more ppg than 2015 you know what we are? A 6-6 team. We go on a miracle run to finish 8-5 in 2015, Vegas predicts 6-6 on 2016,we go 8-5 or maybe even 9-4 in 2016 crushing the expert predictions, and you think it's a fail. Doesn't matter that we're finishing strong ( helping recruiting) or it looks like we finally figured out how to block and maximize Kaaya for next year's realistic run to the ACC Coastal division championship. Players have to be broken of old habits and a losing mentality, it takes time to change the culture. One aspect of the team surprisingly outperforms and this year's expectations go from 6-6 to 10 win acc Coastal Champs. Lol ok

I hate to say it but we're so close to being in playoff contention. Every game we won we've won big and 3 of the 4 losses have been by 3 or less. The committee would've been able to justify a Thursday night loss in B'sburg. To me, the fault lies directly on Richt's inability to adjust the offense to the Oline's strengths and Kaaya's mediocre pay and inability to extend plays. Also, losing AQM, Grace and Young didn't help. The defense has exceeded all expectation and is fun as **** to watch. Diaz deserves a ton of credit.

I'm happy Richt's here and he's shown the ability to adjust even if it was too late. I think winning one or two close games would've been huge for us in recruiting. Finish the season strong and get a bowl win and I like our chances going into next season with a top 5 front 7 on D.

I think (#1, I'll get down-voted for this) that this season showed Kaaya to be a lil over-rated (he's not a top 5 draft prospect as we heard preseason) and that OL-recruiting under Al Golden was severely ineffective. We need to get a LOT better on the OL if we want compete for titles again.

Needs to finish 9-4 to even claim any type of success. At this point, the season has been a complete failure.

+1

Season is a failure. As much as I like Richt, I'm upset that no one on the entire staff, even our OC, could help coach Searels get the best 5 on the field.

The offensive line has had the talent all this time to be serviceable at best; not having them in the correct position has been the biggest fail of this staff so far. That and I think Richt came in arrogant and overworked and should have studied more of last years game film.

I understand a " new slate" but you have to know what your guys "in-game" tendencies are. We all play different with the lights on.

Someone should have been deep into last years tape to get a better understanding of these players... but... water under the bridge now.

I expect Richt to right the ship and we should be a top 10 team next year. PERIOD.

No excuses.

The short VT week is no excuse. VT was on a short week, too.

I knew that was going to be an extremely tough outing for us . Richt has never coached a Thursday night game, before.

Im sure he learned a lesson in preparation.

Welcome to the ACC

That's a loser's mentality though, man. We did better than Vegas expected pre-season and that's a victory? All Vegas cares about is that an even amount of people bet both sides-- some thought we do worse, some though we'd be better. It's not a measuring stick.

You evaluate a season based on its circumstances. The defense played better than anyone thought, that's a fact. Even if the offense wasn't a world-beater, it has enough talent to show better than it did during that four game stretch. They were downright inept.

If we win out, then we got it together and onward we go. If we fall on our *** again, the concerns are real.

you are wrong/ it hasn't underachieved this team lacks 2 things teams need to win titles. depth and experience. the best teams have both. Miami is thin at de due to injures, they have 3 true freshman at lb a feat no other team is doing in all college football, there cb depth sucks, there oline has 0 depth and lacks talent at tackle a position u have to be able to have good players to win or your qb gets killed and wr depth is an issue we have 4 guys they can count on , berrios, coley, lewis and Richards a true freshman.

as for experience while the oline has it we have 5 gaurds playing every game, the dt's starting are both sophmores, de we have reshirt freshman and freshman playing huge minutes , bama by comparioson has 4 jr/sr guys at de playing, we lost close games because of those difficiancies as lack of depth shows up most on special teams.

If Kaaya comes back, we may lose 1-2 games max next year. That front 7 on D gone be so nasty.

Kaaya is garbage
he hasn't played great this year, but u can tell he is feeling the rush. plus he was barely used undder center last 2 yrs and is playing there a lot this year but he isn't trash , he is considered a 1st round talent at qb by a lot of scouts. qb's learning a new system usually struggle in 1st year , that's nothing new ,
