That is entirely inaccurate.
Contracts are for multiple years only because coaches would never accept less. No coach would ever get fire before contract end if judgment is based on the tenure. No coach can lose every game in his first 3 seasons on a five year deal and say, oh wait, I have 2 more years to get it right.
You don't need more time. He has demonstrated he can't do it under the most accommodating circumstances. It is only going to get more difficult. Less recruits to losing school. More difficult schedule, losing the team, etc.
Coaches have to win today. The only reason they get more time is because of contracts and millions spent on them...not because of fan expectations.
