Thomas Brown on the Joe Rose Show; Revealing comments on Malik + QB competition

i'm just going to sit here and see how someone rationalizes this. clearly thomas brown is a scumbag for slandering field general rosier.

You’re the dlckbag, friend.

You’re the teacher that said other players hated Malik and thought he was an “arrogant ***.”

That’s a big fūcking difference from what Brown is saying, that Rosier’s on-field leadership needs to improve, it needs to get better because it’s not good enough. Something which any rational personal would not disagree with.

Congratulations on being UM teacher of the year. Publish your real name since you’re so convinced you’re doing the right thing.

leaders are born, not made. Too late for Malik to change his stripes.

Not to be contrary, but I don't entirely agree.

Sometimes, when things start looking bad - someone who's never felt the need to lead, never really been compelled to lead - will see a vacuum in a moment - realize this moment is critical - and they'll step out, grab everyone's attention, get them to focus on the right things at the right moment - and demand fire up everyone around to go above anything they have done before.

right on cue. keep banging that drum, buddy. if i said that i was told that malik has a 12 inch dong and everyone loved him since he stepped foot on campus i'm sure you'd say the same thing right?

You’re just deflecting now.

Had you just said you heard he wasn’t a good leader, I know I wouldn’t have objected, and I don’t think anyone else would have either. Wouldn’t have said a word.

But you had to be a little gossip girl and make it all personal and about his character and his teammates. If you’ve ever played a team sport: big taboo. You don’t go outside the family.

Teacher of the year.

Same story, different season, bro. Last year we wrote off Perry and Weldon because they were freshmans, Allison because he wasn't willing to compete, and Shirreffs because he never belonged at a D1 school to begin with. This year, the only man with a legit excuse is Williams, and come fall, if we're still hearing reports of Rosier at the QB#1 spot still throwing bubbles in the dirt, Williams is going to find this board running thin on patience with him. They'll have completely given up on Perry and Weldon by then, and rightly so if Rosier hasn't improved but Weldon and Perry are still battling each other for the clipboard.

I'd like to see somebody grab the bull by the horns. Don't care who.
Be careful what you wish for. New untested qb could result in unfavorable results.

By "grab the bull by the horns" I mean someone to step up and prove that they want and are capable of holding down the job as QB#1 at this U. And by "I don't care who," I'm in the minority on this board when I say I don't care if that guy happens to be Rosier. If Perry of Weldon can overcome their deficiencies that relegated then to RS status last season, Rosier can overcome the deficiencies that have us questioning his ability to hold the job.

he's calling a spade a spade bro **** the polite coach talk that's some golden stuff

Honestly you'd think Brown was a Cane all his life. Dude is dead serious and all about competition.

That's what stood out to me most.

TB sounds like he's not holding anyone's hand this season. It's time for guys to put up or shut up. He knows how important this season is and he wants to see whose up for the challenge.

Lol we’re talking about a 5th year Senior . He’s just not a leader, period. It is what it is some people just don’t have it . Just like the previous starting QB . The fact that a 5th year senior can’t separate himself from 3 freshmen is telling in itself .

I want my QB like Kosar screaming at Jimmy Johnson that we should "run it right f*ck at them" on the goal line in the Boston College game. Or like Dorsey yelling at his OL to focus after we scored a touchdown in the first OT of the Fiesta Bowl knowing that they might have to go back out there.

You could say he was born with the ability to be able to do that he didn’t have to be taught or practice hence born a leader

Coach Brown always keep it 100, he don’t do that sugar coating bullsh*t. It’s clear from our coaches comments that this is definitely a real qb battle
The thing is that whoever tries to take his spot needs to show that he will make the difference in the three game we loss last year AND beat FSU. I look at things a little different than most. The fact that the coaches seem to feel free to critize Rosier in public tells me he is not a thin skin diva who is going to sulk. It also shows they think he has more to give than we have seen, or why bother.

This is poor logic. The obvious counter point being that our ceiling is coastal champs with Rosier, but starting one of the freshman could result in more favorable results.

Guys, Also check out Joe Zagacki’s lengthy interview with Malik Rosier on WQAM. (Sorry, don’t know how to link). I was impressed with Malik’s enthusiasm and candor. He knows he has to improve accuracy and leadership.

He stated that last year’s goal for him was to win the job as the starter. This year, his goal is to win the ACC. Period. He wants to lead the team to that championship. If another Qb beats him out, he will support the starter.

His thoughts on players?

* Homer is stepping up a bit from his quiet self to speak out more vocally.
* Dallas is gonna make plays.
* Lingard has great skills. Now needs to learn pass protection.
* Going to run the ball behind a real fullback, George or Chock.
* Jordan at TE is a big time competitor and playmaker.
* Cager has true confidence now to match his size. Expect great things.
* Harley and Thomas have a year’s experience and are ready to progress.
