This reminds me of Coker in 2006

Richt already missed out on the elite OC candidates as mentioned already, but what people aren't mentioning is that the only way a half-decent OC comes in is if Richt makes it clear he has full autonomy of the offense and Richt is never to interfere. Anything short of that and we won't even land a single meeting with an OC not named Mike Bobo or with the last name Richt.

New OC, if there is one, will be a Band-Aid PR hire. I can see Rick turning the offense over to Bizarro Tomlin and Dugans and telling everyone he was spreading himself too thin and needs to focus more on being the HC of the entire team instead of just running the offense and letting the DC be HC of the defense.
Our chance to get a legit OC passed weeks ago. All hired up.

As usual, Miami is way behind the curve. Go figure. A university that made itself by being extremely ahead of the curve.

Zero faith in them actually making a real hire, but their are good, innovative playcallers all around the country who would salivate at the chance to have Miami's offensive talent. No idea why people think that the chance to hire a good OC has passed. It's on Richt, just as it always was.

Because he has shown nothing that would indicate he is going to hire one of these “innovative playcallers.” Further, Blake James has proven that Miami has no idea how to hire innovative coaches. Look at our last three head coaches.

I hope this made it clearer for you.

There was lot more to the Mcelwain firing , The players hated him . His recruiting was terrible and the whole lying incident. There was something wrong mentally with him

Players hate him? Looks like some on this team do for giving playing time to less talented upper classmen over promising underclassmen. Also, Richt's handling of the QB situation and inept offensive playcalling has clearly divided the locker room, which may not be "hate," but it's very unhealthy for a football team.

Terrible recruiting? The 2019 class currently qualifies as terrible. I guess he still has about 5 weeks to fix it, but the best players are signed and our prospects our limited. This class will almost certainly fall outside the top 20. Besides, the lying incident was more of an excuse for Uif to renegotiate Sharkfvcker's buyout, not a real cause for his termination.

The lying incident? Richt hasn't made up stories about death threats... yet. But much worse for on field performance, he lies to himself about the problems with his team because he stubbornly wants to continue calling the plays.

Something wrong mentally? I am not a doctor, but I question Richt's mental health. A neurocognitive impairment is not outside the realm of the possible.

Let’s get something straight here about this whole “let’s hire a great OC” nonsense. A serious OC will want to bring his guys with him. He’ll want his position coaches teaching the players, not Richtirement’s slackers. Like Diaz he’ll want to hire/fire guys who he trusts. A good OC is not just some guy who will show up and wave his wand and poof we now don’t suck. It will require a complete overhaul of the offense. From the way they work out to the way they practice and study film, a good OC will want to micromanage the offense from top to bottom.

That's how this feels. Same age (58), same record. We have an offensive coach with a boring, ineffective offense. Our only hope is hiring an OC to do the coach's job for him. We are trying to make Richt a CEO, even though his big-picture judgment this year would get him fired by any board. The defense is good but overworked and flawed. The quarterback play is the worst it's been since Kyle and Kirby.

It's been twelve years since Coker got fired and we are in the same place. This sucks.

The reality is you can't fire Richt after three years. No AD in America would do that. I think there's enough pressure on him that he will hire an OC. But the question is: will he be bold, or will he make a "safe" choice that really changes nothing? History would suggest the latter.

Whatever he does, this needs to be the year. And if we don't make that leap into the Top 10, we need to move on and rethink our approach. Coker, Shannon, Golden and Richt all had one thing in common: they weren't innovators. They were supposed "CEOs" who believed in winning with simple schemes and better athletes. The past sixteen years have proven that won't work here. This is a program built on innovation. We need to get back to that.

Miami is a more attractive place than it was in 2006. We have a great stadium and modern facilities. Guys like Leach and Mullen were begging for the job. Someone like Dino Babers would kill for this opportunity. We saw in 2017 how quickly momentum can shift for the better. But we're getting old. And this season looked way too familiar.

You got me at " making the leap into the Top 10 " next season. :zczkqmritjdsoaq.jpg: Cane dude, THAT AIN'T HAPPENING! Can you dig it! That ain't happening. Yes, I absolutely understand you bleed the Orange and Green and what not ( Metaphorically speaking. ). But Cane dudes and you need to chill and take a step back and do the REALISTIC boogie and all that.

The bottom line is this team will be LUCKY to win eight games next season. That's the regular season I'm inferring about and what not.

And dig this. This lame duck head coach lurking around Thee Gables AIN'T going to fire either Junior or good ol' boy Stacy. And I absolutely doubt he fires himself as OC. But I could be wrong, again. Just like I was wrong about Miami last night!

An OC is not the answer, the cancer that is Richt would still be eating this team away from the inside. We are a joke right now, it truly needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt.

That's it baby. CLEAN HOUSE and make Miami relatively respectable again. Because CMR surely isn't the answer to what ails Miami.

This program needs more than an OC. It needs an infusion of excitment and talent.

Just hiring an OC isn’t the solution. There are serious structural problems with this program, recruiting, roster management, coaching hires.

This is not mainly an OC problem, the whole program is broken and has been completely mismanaged by richt.

Richt and Blake need to go. Otherwise these are just band aids.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chad O’Shea/Jerry Schlupinski/Cole Popovich.

Make it happen, Blake.

Your boy AIN'T going to make anything happen! So stop with your trite opinion and what not! Richt is here to stay for next season and probably the 2020 season! And Miami will probably NEVER become a legitimate Top 25 team, again. Because Richt already has Miami two legs and two feet in the six foot GRAVE!

****, Cane dudes have all these UNIVERSITY DEGREES and all that. YET THEY DON'T HAVE ONE DEGREE OF COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let alone insight or playing the sage and what not.:youre-nuts:

If Rick tires and offensive coordinator it's going to be from within the staff. I'm fully expecting co-offensive coordinator titles between Thomas and Dugan's. That's probably the only way he keeps either one of them on the staff while still being able to hire a striker with the 10th coaching position. Y'all enjoy the long offseason. I know for one unless a big-time name is hired as a coordinator I'm not investing much time if any at all in this team anymore until richt is gone

Yeah. At least I have my second favorite to team to cheer for and all that. Roll Tide, Yahoo and my main man Lord Saban!

****, you really clarified that for me. Especially with my first line that said "Zero faith in them actually making a real hire ".

Bizaro Tomlin won’t have time either. He was just named as the chief of oncology at Sloan Kettering
