I don’t agree with a decision to postpone sports but have students on campus, but I am pretty sure the issue/concern is liability for long term health problems, especially of over weight athletes and possible heart problems. I think this concern is overblown, and is hypocritical as any student could have this issue from Covid.
But, we would be hard pressed that postponing college football is a political decision to remove someone from office, no matter how incompetent, immature and awful a human being the person in office maybe. Why? Because the financial hit the schools are taking is so great that it overpowers politics. Schools, like any business, may care about politics but not more so than they care about money. So when you look for a rational answer to the question of why, look to the money. It is, has been, and will always be the strongest motivator.
