... minus the more recent BCS bowl appearance. A dated display that people begin to question if were split championships and have to rely on stories from their parents and grandparents about how good we once were. We'll have the same cheap banner up behind aging trophies in the concourse of an empty SLS as Springsteen's "Glory Days" plays with little kids wearing jerseys from other teams making old jokes about their Dad as he tries to tell them how it wasn't always this way.

I am old and can't remember Pitt winning NCs. Maybe one with Dorsett.

Yep, didn't they beat UGA or someone in the Sugar Bowl to win the NC

We are there now. We are just like the storied programs from the past like ND, Army, Michigan and Ped State.

My twelve year old son is a diehard UM fan and he has never seen us have a good team. He has to watch canesfreak2001 videos of the glory days and dream about UM being great. He is dying to play for UM, but I wouldn't let him go to UM with this corching staff if he was old enough and good enough to be recruited by UM. Sad.

Yes, but Pitt fans can remember beating us last week.

It's already tough watching YouTube highlights of the '01 team in standard def, all grainy and blurry. Smh.

Yep. There is just a lack of effort by the admins and as long as that is the case we won't be winning anything unfortunately.

OP spitting truth. Minnesota football has a bunch of NCs in their history too. No one knows it or cares though.

The last time they won was 1976 before that 1937.
but yes we are becoming just like them. I am really wondering if we will ever be back

Well given that hey just beat our *** id say we are trending in opposite directions. Pitt will make it to the ACC championship first as long as AG is here.

My dad grew up a Vanderbilt fan. Even in the 50s and 60s it was extremely rare for his favorite team to be halfway decent, let alone bowl eligible. When I was in 3rd grade I sat next to him on the couch and watched Wake Forest blow them out back when Watson Brown was their coach. After the game I asked him if Vanderbilt was ever good at football. He paused and said "not really, but they used to at least try." I have a feeling that whenever I have kids I'm going to have a similar conversation.

Sad, but smart. I would do the same thing if I were in your shoes.
