Last year's DL, though, was historic in terms of how prolific RB and AM were in pass rush - 150+ QBHs combined. That's incredible. They were also exceptional against the run.

This year's group hinges on 3 keys:

1. Wilson - prior to this year, he's been a weak spot against the run. How will he do this year against the run?
2. Lowe - huge upside. Are we expecting too much for this first year?
3. Lightfoot - see Wilson.

the greedy part of me wishes someone like Stancil can step up and provide some depth (mostly for easy games) to give our main DTs (including Davis and Carter) some relief.

Lightfoot has not struggled against the run! That’s a poor narrative. Yes, he lacked size, however, he is pound for pound one of strongest players on the team. Dude was beating double teams and smacking ****. Y’all gon see

Setting the edge is this scheme doesn’t always fall on the DE, go back and look at Agent O set the Edge beautifully in several games. It was 190 pound Scott setting the edge.

I feel like Mizzou didn’t really coach their ends to set the edge like that. They let them pin their ears back no matter the down and distance 😂. Lose the edge at Miami and you coming out the game. Wilson set the edge just fina when he was at UGA. He went from one extreme to another. UGA was running that No’D wefense read and react BS. And Mizzou said go get the QB, f the run lol. It’s well documented that their D-END coach let them do whatever. At Miami you gotta play both equally and you’ll rep that **** in practice a thousand times until you get it right! And if you can’t you won’t play.

Since his FR year of college or of H.S.? I don't think he was only 225 as a FR with us.

If someone put a gun to my head and said I had to only keep 1 room on this team, for my money, it’s WR.

But #2 would be the DL. I just feel there are more “ifs” there than at WR. But under no circumstances is it any worse than about the 5th best DL room in America headed into the year. And, with those “ifs”, there’s a ton of ceiling.

What if Justin Scott really does play himself into a first rounder? He was headed that way at the end of the season.

What if Armondo Blount does make a 3rd year leap this year (remember, he’s the age of a sophomore) and turns into a true 5-star talent, with the versatility at 275 to play all over the line?

What if Hayden Lowe really is him? I heard a good bit of that last fall before the injury.

What if Damon Wilson can come close to replicating what Mesidor did in the run game? I know he can get to the QB, but he did a lot of freelancing last year and was a bit of a one-trick pony. What if he fully grasps its money time and plays within the scheme and is, say, 90-95% setting the edge in what we had with Mesi, combined with double digit sack production?

The floor of this room is insanely high. The ceiling is outrageous.

Plus the depth we have behind all 4 DLine spots isn't matched by any other team in the country, except maybe Oklahoma.

The DLine is the strongest collective unit on the team. WR corps is right there too, but the DL is STACKED.
