This defensive line will be historic

Its amazing how the #1 concern was how our DEs would set the edge and now that is absolutely an afterthought. Sometimes we as fans panic too early. Now our #1 concern is will the secondary hold up long enough for the calvary to get here. (OJ and Antoine)

Listen to your boy.. Too many top talent 5 star guys who already all had experience and snaps.. Oline was always gonna be the issue.. All 5 guys playing new positions and swimming in waters they not used to and cant help each other.. Much more of worry than setting the edge, you would of thought Bain and Mesi created setting the edge..

A few of us tried to tell you guys, setting the edge and stopping the run is the DNA of a Hetherman defense.

While being the #1 run defense in the nation. This defensive line is feasting
Haters will point to the schedule, but if you actually look at it, the gap isn’t that big. Sure, we played ND, but the rest of the schedules are pretty comparable. Wake >Louisville (toss up), Clemson > 2025 Florida, and we played both Stanford and FSU in each season.

I just wish we would play some bump and run or something to get our guys some more chances at getting some more sacks. Teams are getting the ball out quickly and our corners are playing 8 yards back. We are looking like a zone blitzing team. That should never be the case down here. Hopefully OJ comes back soon

The best rushing attack they have played this year is fsu at 46th. Last year they went up against fsu who was 11th, Indiana 12, usf 13th, nd 17, A&M 30, vt 34, ole miss 44. And they finished 6th in run defense in 2025. The top rushing team they will play this year according to stats is duke at 36th. You only can play who on the schedule and not taking nothing from them they have held up so far but will be interesting to see how they match up vs better talent

3 of those are playoff teams and 1 played a G5 schedule. So ND, who for some reason didn’t even attempt to run the ball, was really the only top rushing attack we faced in the regular season.

And VT gashed us for close to 200 yards. FSU was over 100 as well.

ND did attempt but it wasn’t working and then they got down by a couple of scores. And that usf team is better than most of the teams we played so far. I didn’t even mention they held baugh down too. The fact is as I said they can’t help who they play but they played better rbs and running teams in the regular season last year

Why is this a contested debate?

The post said it was no difference between the opponents last year and this year which ain’t true. Like I said they can’t help who on the schedule and they have been great vs the run against that schedule but last year was tougher
