This current team reminds me of the 1999 squad

Well, Well, Well.....

I posted this thread, not to troll, not with blind faith, but because I knew what I was seeing. I got blasted with negs and now my rep on this board sucks because I had optimism, wow. This team IS in fact shaping up to be that team that "turns the corner". I should get some kind of retribution (likes) for this lol.

My money is on more negs lil homie.

Enlighten me as to why?

Because this forum is full of whiny little babies. We could've won the past 3 games 70-0 in each one and they'd still ***** about the 3 we loss. If we played like we did these past 3 games this whole season, we'd likely be undefeated right now. Sadly the coaching staff took too long to notice that aggressive schemes work....
We ***** because we COULD/SHOULD have WON the 3 games we lost. If not for the arrogance of Alice Glutton and her bff. Yeah, we are ****ED because it's NOT THE PLAYERS FAULT WE HAVE THREE ******* LOSSES!!!!!!! Yeah, I'll continue to ***** about those three losses. Cuz they still **** me the **** off.

They still lost to Louisville, Nebraska, and Georgia Tech. They can beat the cupcakes. Yay!

The good teams Butch beat in '99 were...

tumblr_inline_mt0ug64jlE1qz4rgp.gif

We only had one Big East loss that year to #2 VaTech. Beat #9 Ohio State and #17 GaTech. Lost to #1 FSU by only 10 and lost to #3 Penn State by only 3. How does that compare to double digit losses to Louisville, GaTech and Nebraska? We also finished the season #15, 9-4 with a BRUTAL schedule.

Ohio State finished 6-6 and the coach ended up getting fired. That wasn't a good football team.

VaTech was the ONLY good team in the Big East. Everybody else was scrubby as ****. West Virginia, Pitt, Rutgers, and Temple went a combined 11-32.

Georgia Tech was the bowl game and we haven't played FSU yet, but ain't nobody around here interested in a close loss to them.

If anybody was beating up on pansies, it was Butch Davis in the year 1999.

Not to mention the fact that he lost to East Carolina.

Whether y'all want to acknowledge them or not, Duke is a good football program and their ONLY loss on the season thus far, is to Miami.

Duke is the lowest ranked 1 loss team. There are 8 two loss teams ranked ahead of them. They were a shanked 20 yd field goal from losing to Pitt. No, they are not a good foosball team.

The '99 team played GOOD teams tough, except for the *** beating VaTech put on us.

LOL, say what????

They've won 15 of their last 16 regular season games.

Went on the road last season and beat a Virginia Tech team that beat us by 18.

Handled us as well.

Didn't say they were a championship level program, but it's disrespectful to say they aren't a good program.

jerzeycane isn't a Miami fan. Stop engaging the guy. He actually said that he values Golden's friendship with Donofrio over winning. Seriously.

Btw, our preason ranking in 1999 was #12. Can someone remind me where we were ranked this year??? Thanks.

And beat none of them. They also lost to East Carolina.

Nebraska ain't a good football team? They're 8-1 on the season and don't start talking about their schedule either, because if I recall Georgia Tech hadn't played anybody in '99, but you're quick to label them a good team.

Did you NOT just see the Louisville team that played Florida State? That's one of the best defenses in the country.

Don't know.

Don't care.

Don't matter.

You understand the entire point of this thread? OP is trying to compare this team to the 99 team. Is that really so hard to understand?

What the **** do biased pre-season rankings have to do with ANY comparison between the two teams.

Anybody with a functioning brain knows that pre-season rankings mean ****.

We were 2-3 and still ranked #23 in 1999. We were 5-3, #19 heading into the VaTech game.

Until last year they weren't ****. They have improved against a weak *** coastal. Good program, seriously... The only decent team that they played this year beat them. My how the understanding of what is good has been redefined.

343 rushing against = kicking the everloving **** outta us.

Also, it was a one possession game early in the fourth when Nebraska scored a fg and a td to put the game out of reach. Don't blame the loss on that fumble. Something a scapegoating coach would do to shift blame onto the players.

*HOLY **** AT BLAMING THE ******* PLAYERS.

The excuses, they never end.

UL was not good when we played them. They were missing their best play maker, their best RB, a brand new QB, a new coaching staff in their very first game. Jesus Christ how much more of an advantage does Al Golden need?

Nebraska was quite beatable. They are average to slightly above average and very beatable. They almost lost to Marshall (?), got shutdown for most of the game against MSU.

GT, LOL. That game was practically forfeited by Golden.

And LMAO at Duke being a good team.

Our record is 6-3. I'm tired of moral victories. I'm tired of the excuses. By year 4 you either deliver or get out. I'm not patting Golden on the back for moral victories anymore. I did that bull**** for 2 1/2 years. He's making changes and he deserves credit, now go beat FSU, win out the season and the bowl game and I will change my tune. Otherwise he needs to get the **** out.
