Third string QB Question

Lol at a Kid picking a school over a Locker room....Bye.....
Way to sensationalize it lol. Why should miami be fine with doing just the bare minimum of something or doing just enough to get by(or not be seen as sh*tty)? Isn’t that what got us in the situation with hiring lame duck coaches and not properly financing facilities/coaching staff in the first place?

Your argument fails because no one is “stuck behind” anyone here. No one has established himself as QB1, and whoever is named starter will likely be on a short leash. So there’s absolutely zero reason for the backup to leave before the season starts.

Kosi and Tate could graduate next spring /summer. If they needed a transfer, they can do so unrestricted with no sitting.

Jarren is only a redshirt freshman. I could see him transferring but it makes no sense to me for him to at least not see where the season goes. Why sit a year when you are nipping at the heels of unsolidified guys now.

Sure he could battle for the gtech job or uk, but he is getting reps in a wide open competition. Until coaches let him know he is no longer welcome, he might as well battle and let Enos teach him the position.

Coaches get tunnel vision for “their” guy and will push others out the door with favoritism. Players want a fair shot and will bounce to find it. Guys don’t want to sit but there is more to the rash of young QBs transferring besides impatience.

Honestly I think Tate likes the lifestyle of miami so much that he wouldn’t but you never know. Same thing with Jarren but he has shown to be a bit indecisive as he decommitted from Kentucky twice ultimately ending up at Miami and the whole transfer portal thing back in bowl practices. Ultimately I see Two QBs playing this year. We may see 2 game 1, williams/Perry and martell if he’s not already the game 1 starter

UMs Weightroom circa 1980-81....Most HS Weightrooms were nicer at that time...Really Hurt us moving foward....

It's not the 80's anymore though. There was no facilities race back then. In today's recruiting facilities are at the top of every recruiting pitch. Schools aren't dumping tens of millions of dollars into facilities just to spend money, they're doing it so they can't be negatively recruited against by these other schools. U can't compare football to how it was 30 years ago and u definitely can't compare recruiting. The game has changed.

As i said before schools like ga tech , South Carolina and Kentucky have better lockerrooms than Miami, that shouldn’t happen period.
Miami University has a better locker room than Miami. Unacceptable.

hypothetically, if youre a kid who's only goal is to make it to the league (lets be real, thats their goal) and youre stuck behind a guy who has 3-4 years of eligibility left, would you stay on or would you leave? thats the point i was making. its in their best interest to leave, whether it be UCF or UK. w the way CFB is televised, kids will get noticed no matter where theyre at. the thing they cant do is get noticed if theyre holding a clipboard for 3 years. martell came here without a guarantee and he may not even end up starting. would you fault him for leaving if hes the second or third stringer? he was going to be a second string QB at OSU and he said EFF that im out.

It's a fair point about Martell leaving OSU and essentially the backup spot there. I guess the caveat would be the angst associated with perceiving that Fields was just being handed the starting job along with the stigma of being a 3 time transfer if he were to leave Miami refusing to be the backup here.

You guys realllllllly like you some plastic decorations, some 8 in monitors and some ambient lighting, huh?

This is one step above Oregon uni worship, imo.
Can miami not do that too ? Or are they fine with just doing the bare minimum to get by?

It wouldn’t necessarily be a bad look since we’re doing the dorms and did the IPF to do the locker room and players lounge then be done with it for @3-5 years. Unfortunately we do live in a me first world and kids these days love shiny, fresh toys. Do we need to throw down $5 million, no.

As to QB transferring I just don’t see whoever is QB3 to remain, especially with Matocha and Van Dyke holding up the rear. After this season it wouldn’t surprise me to see QB2 if they’re not utilized much throughout the year. Hopefully whoever wins QB1 will do so such that we won’t stress about losing potentially 2 QB’s who want the chance to start somewhere.

Didn’t say anything about the weight room. Fine for bottom half of power 5 schools? Yeah probably so... look it needs to be renovated and Miami has the money to do so. As i said before schools like ga tech , South Carolina and Kentucky have better lockerrooms than Miami, that shouldn’t happen period.

I just don’t want a situation where recruits view Miami facilities(mainly the lockerroom) and view Miami as second rate because of that. The only complaint now adays that is kind of true since most of the other things are new or being take care of can be about the lockerroom or player lounge as its lacking a bit in reference to other schools we directly compete against in recruiting

Look at Texas, their complete lockerroom upgrade was a little over 1 million, that can be done..

Can't beleive South Carolina, GT, Kentuxky arent recruiting better than Miami because of those locker rooms

They used to do less than even the Bare Minimum...What else is New??....I can think of way more important issues that have, and still do effect the Program. For almost 40yrs they've taken the Cheap or Non existent route, more often than not, especially with Coaching Hires. Once you start lowballing Coaches...especially HCs...you get what you deserve. When your school's President & BOT decide that Randy Shannon is a better hire than Gary Patterson {who would've knocked down doors to come to UM} then you have a problem from the get go. But too do it 2 more times in a row, not learning from past mistakes on such a critical issue, then it becomes a Mockery. You must have a complete Coaching staff from top to bottom to compete with the Saban's and Dabo's of CFB...

pretty much where im at with the QB transferring. if were going to our backup in season and not bc of injury, we have a bigger issue than just depth.

For real.

If kids love plastic decor, then we don't want them at Miami anyway.

It’s not the 80s anymore. Again why the bare minimum?

And I agree With the rest of your post but bottom line facilities matter now in this day of age now as well. No one is asking to be bama or Oregon in terms of facilities ..... but better than Miami of Ohio? Ga tech and Kentucky etc? Is that too much to ask?

I obviously agree with not doing the "bare minimum" on any front as we've been guilty in the past of doing it on toooo many fronts but this is just lower on my concern barometer.

Are we even comparing apples to apples on this too? Aren't a lot of these locker rooms in the football facilities of the on-campus stadiums of these schools? We obviously operate under a different situation but thankfully have now been able to sell Hard Rock as a positive and occasionally very unique program attribute.
