These people belong in jail

Why is the college basketball philosophy so hard to grasp… no one actually thinks the 16 seeds will win or that they are in the top 64 teams. Yet the tourney is awesome and racks in big bucks.
Does anyone remember the traditional MLB pennant races?

Does anyone even care today?

MLB's bank account surely loves the new format I'm guessing.

#4 seed wild card NY Football Giants have entered the chat.

I know an aberration, but people will cling.
Yeah, exactly, I’m saying those types of teams SHOULD get a shot. ESPECIALLY in the college game.

People act like the 4-team playoff was this magical format when literally the average margin victory of semi-final games was 17 points.

60% of ALL games played under the 4 team format were blowouts of 14 or more points.

The playoff has always had blowouts. That’s the nature of the beast (especially pre-portal). At least now you’re adding more drama and outside chances.

Argument against the 12 team playoff has always made zero sense to me. Especially in a world where fans and alum can DIRECTLY pay for their team to make a wider playoff field.

The current landscape is electric and the reason we can actively post on message boards year round with actual action going on.

I will retreat from my soapbox now.

Good stuff

I am not against more games at all I just don’t like hypocrisy

At some point not matter how many teams you add there is always a case for more teams

I see the vision.

And the vision is gambling.

They want something akin to the NCAA Basketball tourney.

I'm not entirely opposed to the idea.
If this is what they want, then let's set a bracket of FCS and FBS teams at the beginning of the year and play a tournament.

None of this regular season/postseason nonsense.

We already have a 136 team playoff (the regular season). Expanding the playoffs will turn the regular season into an exhibition ala NBA.

Four teams was perfect, but the competitive landscape was terrible during that era.

I mean if you just imagine it like every conference does a 4 team playoff to determine the winner then the winner of the 4 major conferences do a 4 team playoff….
12 is a good number imo.
12 is a good respectable number. 16 at the most. It at least makes every team in the FBS have legitimate seasons. before there was a 12 team, 90% of FBS teams were just playing meaningless games to make conferences, schools and parasites money. All players in FBS deserve to have the opportunity to earn the chance to win a championship. whats the number, 98% will not be pros? winning in college is the pinnacle of their sports career.

IF it goes to 20 teams, What's so hard about having to top-20 ranked teams go to the show?

I don't care how good a team thinks they are, or how tough of a schedule they think they play...
If they're not ranked in the top-20, they're out.
The two Big Conferences don't want to increase the importance of the ACC and the Big 12, much less the Mid Majors. My guess is, neither does ESPN or Fox. It's stupid, and it drives us toward the Premier League Model, which will kill off Collegiate football as we have known it.

Leave it at 12, 16 at most. I think they are headed towards the "NFL Model" as we speak, anyway.

As for Miami, I think we have been wise to hold our fire and stay clear of any lawsuits. That will give us flexibility in future negotiations with other conferences, should that need arise.

When the actual season starts, I wish they would utilize an actual point-differential measurable to separate teams with equal records.
