MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Interestingly, that would increase the number of "common opponents", and thus make the ACC tiebreaker rules slightly more valid.

Well we're moving to 9 out of 12, with 1 required Power Conf game.

As things stand now, out of 15 other teams we could have had in common, the overlap can be as small as 3 teams we each have in common.

That leaves a sea of top teams that my team could've played that yours simply did not. Going from 8 conf games to 9 simply moves that 3-team common opponent minimum from 1 to 3.

Strength of schedule gets ruined more and more by conferences that are systematically keeping the wins in losses in-house outside of the gimmies they schedule outside.

One thing that needs to be fixed is ensuring that a 7-5 team doesn’t get the opportunity to go to the conference championship again. The conference is too big which allows for a team like Duke to play a cupcake conference schedule and reach the championship.

Better tiebreakers need to be instituted moving forward (preferably tied to cfp rankings to ensure the conference gets its best chance teams in).

True. Now, if we put a "Top 25" qualifier on tiebreakers, we would have a pretty obvious outcome, since SMU, Pitt, and GaTech all lost this weekend.

going forward the tie breaker needs to be determined by the highest cfb playoff ranking so the acc can avoid a scenario like this from happening In the future

We are screwed. Disappointed that our AD and school have been so quiet. ****, Texas was louder than us.

Sounds like the CFPis ditching the pods argument and is going to move to a“Miami needs to move past BYU and Alabama before we heavily compare them to ND” one…
That would happen if:
BYU loses bad
Bama wins the SECCG

Bear mentioned this..that would put ND at 10 and Miami at 11.

Yes but do we have any confidence they’d actually drop Alabama?
No... Bama WINS the SECCG and jumps ND.
BYU loses and drops.

It's a risk but lately the committee has been saying they're comparing Miami to BYU and Bama, not just ND.

Well if Bama wins and jumps ND and BYU loses and we jump them (we may jump them this week anyways) then there's nobody between ND and Miami anymore and they HAVE TO directly compare Miami and ND.

One team would be #10 and one would be #11.

Can you imagine a final ranking where ND is #10 and Miami is #11?

Sadly, I can see that ranking…and U.S. being left out. Regardless, where is our AD????
