Don't be surprised if ND jumps past Oklahoma just for the committee to keep us further apart from NDPlayoff Committee: "Because ND and Miami are ranked so far apart, we're not allowed to compare the two and consider things like a head-to-head match-up."
College football fans: "But you guys are the ones who ranked them so far apart."

Why is OU so high? Alabama found 500 ways to give that game away but they haven't looked good all year.Don't be surprised if ND jumps past Oklahoma just for the committee to keep us further apart from ND

Once UVA won, we had no shot at the ACC championship game, so it would’ve been better for us for SMU to win and stay ranked for our strength of schedule and at-large chances.
There's no point in scheduling anything out of conference except for ACC games
hopefully they both lose next week and dont get inYou're not listening.
SMU was one of several games that we needed. It is the ONLY one that went our way. Yes, there were probably a lot of other games that didn't mean as much ONCE THEY WERE OVER.
For instance, we didn't "need" Oklahoma to lose...because we still had Alabama-Auburn upcoming.
But that is just a short-sighted way of analyzing things.
We needed SMU to lose. Sure, SMU losing didn't mean as much when OTHER things didn't happen. But we needed SMU to lose under MULTIPLE "Miami makes the ACC-CG" scenarios.
And we are NOT going to be omitted from an at-large spot because SMU went from #22 to, say, #26. We WILL be omitted from an at-large spot because teams like BYU and Alabama and Oklahoma chose not to lose this weekend.
