MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Personally, I don't think Miami's beef is with ND. I think they should both be in. I would take both over Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas Tech, Oregon, or Indiana.

Playing Miami would scare me more as an ND fan than any of those.
It’s only with ND because we’ve been pushed into a corner and led to believe there is only one spot up for grabs. And ND has that spot.

The media are loving the ratings they are getting from pitting us against each other. But at the end of the day, most Miami fans would acknowledge ND looks like one of the best teams in the country and should be in the playoff, but it shouldn’t be at our expense when we hold the head-to-head.

A million internet points to the person who plugs those scenarios into Grok and calculates the likelihood UM makes the CG.
The probability is low: about 6.25% of 4 games going our way whether you use the generic toss up model or one that takes into account the odds of the most likely scenario (UM win, SMU win, Duke loss, Virginia loss).

Do we want uga to beat gt? I know if gt won it would look good for the acc but i wonder how high a 10-2 gt with a recent win vs uga would jump for an at large spot

I don’t see a path for GT as at large. They won’t jump us due to the common opponent of NCST. The only way it helps us is if we beat them in the ACCCG, which wouldn’t matter ultimately other than seeding for the CFP. UGA won’t drop out either.

I’m pulling for Duke to win the acc!!! Nothing has blue blood acc BS than a 7-5 Duke champion while Miami sits at 10-2. This also could mean no acc team makes the cfp. Talk about extra motivation to leave this ****hole conference!

Go unt, jmu, duke.

Yes, I want Miami to make the cfp but if that isn’t going to happen…let Duke win the acc and not make the cfp.

I think if we aren’t getting in, this is perfect.

Forget about Syracuse helping at all. Brown is playing the walk on QB again this week. He is letting the experienced guy sit to preserve his redshirt

Another freshman is going to be the backup. Seems like he will let the other guys walk to the portal.

I agree. If they want to leave the fate of their conference up to dumb *** rules and scheduling that’s what the conference deserves.

FWIW I don't think the committee will let this happen.

It's possible within the rules. But the only way I think they'd ever put in two G5's and leave out a P4 conference champion is:

1. The P4 conference champ would obviously have to be someone like Duke, who is 7-5 and somehow lucks their way in and wins it
2. And more importantly, two G5 teams were either 13-0 or at worst one is 13-0 and the other is 12-1.

JMO. But I think Duke is in even if they win the ACC even if JMU and North Texas both win out.

A few things no one is saying (loud enough):
- Syracuse had nine (9) new starters vs ND; that’s not a comparable game
- Louisville is 7-1 when their pre season All ACC RB plays
- no ND fan will not acknowledge head-to-head, as it is the industry standard metric to judge two teams in every conference in America. Since they aren’t in a conference, the logic doesn’t apply.
- Miami’s win network touches Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma, which ND’s does not

If they put in a 8-5 team over a 12-1 JMU team, just scrap the whole **** thing.

It's not about a "beef" with Notre Dame, but I will say that when a ND-linked Twatter account is trying to spin ND over Miami for an at-large bid, we can turn it into a beef.

Yes, we are both aware that the SEC-Big 10 duopoly is trying to maximize their lock on the at-large bids. I don't begrudge the undefeated or 1-loss teams like Indiana or Oregon or Ole Miss or Texas Tech.

But I definitely have an issue with 2-loss teams like Oklahoma and Alabama continuing to benefit from the CFP "Human Centipede Effect". If the SEC opens the season with 10 ranked teams, and only play 4 games (2 of them cupcakes) outside of their Human Centipede environment, then they will try to **** on your head and tell you that all of those 2-loss teams are just collateral damage.

Here's a thought. If you expand the size of your conference AND the number of games you play in-conference (which will be 9 conference games next year), then you can't **** and moan later and try to elicit sympathy over all your poor, poor, unfortunate 2-loss and 3-loss teams who really really really deserve a spot at the pig trough.

**** it. Miami played one of those 10 pre-season-ranked SEC teams and we whipped them. So sorry that the SEC is canceling P4 OOC games left and right. Not my problem. Miami lost one OT game and another game that should have been OT to teams in contention for the ACC-CG (yes, Louisville just got knocked out late with 3 consecutive conference losses, but SMU is still tied for first). Unlike, say, TEXAS, which lost to one of the worst teams in the SEC, Florida. Or ALABAMA, which lost to one of the worst teams in the ACC, Florida State.

Similarly, ND has an impressive resume, losing by 3 points to a bubble CFP team and 1 point to the #3 CFP team.

We should both be in.
